Princess Lechang
Princess Lechang is the daughter of emperor Chen Xuan and the younger sister of Chen Shubao. Although he grew up in the royal family, he didn't have the arrogant temper of the general Jinzhiyuye. He was praised for his gentle and virtuous temperament in the palace. She is graceful in appearance, elegant in manner, and has profound literary attainments.
For this reason, she chose her husband to marry Xu Deyan, a talented man from the south of the Yangtze River. After Xu Deyan became the emperor's son-in-law and served in the imperial court, he also showed his political talent. The couple respected and loved each other, and became a perfect couple that everyone admired at that time.
In the Tang Dynasty, Meng Qi's "ability poem" said that she was "the most talented" and recorded the story of her "reunion with Xu Deyan".
background
In the north, Yang Jian replaced the Jing emperor of the Northern Zhou Dynasty and became the Wen emperor of the Sui Dynasty. He established the state of Sui. Yang Jian had great ambition and was determined to unify China. According to the ancient custom, the monarch and his relatives were not allowed to live in their original places, in order to prevent them from gathering remains and reviving. Therefore, empress Chen and his royal family were taken north to Chang'an, the capital of the Sui Dynasty. Of course, Princess Lechang is also among the prisoners. She and her beloved husband Xu Deyan are about to be separated. Before leaving, Princess Lechang broke a bronze mirror on her dressing table in half, half of which was left for her husband and half for herself. She agreed with Xu Deyan that on the 15th of the first month of each year, she would sell bronze mirrors on the streets of Chang'an until she found each other's whereabouts, so that the couple could reunite. Xu Deyan nodded frequently with tears in his eyes. It's really a long way to go. It's thousands of miles to Chang'an. In the chaos of war, it's hard for Xu Deyan, a minister of subjugation, to make a trip. What's more, Princess Lechang is not sure where she will be sent when she goes to Chang'an. Xu Deyan holds half a bronze mirror in his hand. He remembers that in the past, his husband and wife once matched each other in the mirror, and he once put a phoenix hairpin in the mirror for his wife. Now he has gone to the mirror to break it. How can he not be heartbroken. But when he thought of his wife's earnest advice, he was determined not to disappoint her, hoping that no matter how small it was, there was still a ray of life. So he endured humiliation, forced himself to survive, and only waited for the situation to calm down a little, went to Chang'an, prayed for God's help, so that his husband and wife could meet again after the disaster.
After Chen's royal family came to Chang'an, they were divided into four parts to deal with it. In Chang'an, Chen's master Shubao and two or three concubines were imprisoned. Chen's uncles and brothers were exiled to remote border areas. Most of the palace maids and their families were paid to the palace as palace maids, and a small number of outstanding women were allocated to the meritorious officers and ministers in the southern expedition. Princess Lechang was given to Prime Minister Yang Su as a concubine, while Princess Ningyuan, the fourteenth daughter of emperor Chen Xuan, was brought into the palace by Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty as a concubine. This was lady Xuanhua, who was later deeply loved by Emperor Wen.
Personal experience
Stay in Jiangnan
During the southern expedition of the Sui Dynasty, Yang Su was the commander in chief of the unified army. He commanded the army and went eastward along the river. When Shi jiayaori saw him sitting in the bow of a boat, he had a great appearance and a magnificent manner. All the people on both sides respected him as the "God of the river". After the capture of chendi and the return of ban Shi, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty appointed Yang Su as the right minister. It is such a prime minister who was born in the JunGuan military academy. Because he is familiar with poetry, he yearns for the scenery of southern China and appreciates the beautiful scenery of Jiangnan. After he got Princess Lechang, he fell in love with this beautiful and talented Southern beauty. He was tender and precious.
Yang Su, who was married to Princess Lechang, was a distinguished minister in the Sui Dynasty. His ancestors once served as a general in the Northern Wei Dynasty and the Northern Zhou Dynasty. Yang Su had little ambition and was proficient in both civil and martial arts. He was not only good at dispatching troops, but also good at writing poems. For example, his poem "ChuSai Pian" was very magnificent and simple, which was praised by people. "ChuSai" is written as follows:
Barren fortress empty thousands of miles, isolated city must be four neighbors;
Cold trees tend to be old, and withered grasses never spring.
There may be many works of Princess Lechang, but only this one has been handed down.
Although Princess Lechang lives in the prime minister's residence in the north, her heart still stays in her hometown Jiangnan and her husband Xu Deyan's side. She dreams of returning to her old home countless times and reliving her Mandarin dream with Xu Deyan. When she wakes up, she only has the strange prosperity around her and the bright moon in the sky. As time goes by, things change. In the twinkling of an eye, it's the new year again. Princess Lechang starts to sprout new hope in her heart. During the Lantern Festival on the 15th of the first lunar month, the city of Chang'an is very busy. Princess Lechang ordered her old maid to sell her half mirror on the street. On that day, in the busy market of Chang'an, people saw an old woman dressed in plain clothes holding a half mirror. Some people asked her price casually, but the old woman's price was too high. Everyone thought that the old woman was in a state of mind I don't know. No one talks to her anymore.
Bitter wait for no fruit
The fifteenth day of the first year passed without any result, and the fifteenth day of the second year passed without any clue. Princess Lechang almost despair, she thought of all kinds of unfortunate possibilities: her husband has forgotten himself? Husband has another family? A long way to go, will my husband come? Or even the husband has passed away? On reflection, she firmly believed
The first two will not happen, because she understands her husband's heart; if the third is possible, she will have to wait patiently; but what if the fourth conjecture happens? She couldn't help but feel sad. If it was true, she would sell in Chang'an all the time. She believed that even if her husband died, his soul would find Chang'an.
dense willow trees and bright flowers
So on the fifteenth day of the third month, she still let the old servant peddle in the street. This time, there was unexpected news. When the old servant came back, he reported to Princess Lechang that there was a young scholar like man in the market who was also holding a half face bronze mirror for sale. He claimed that the mirror was very valuable. Only if he could bring the other half of the mirror that fit with it, he would give it away without any money. I quickly took out half of our bronze mirror and walked forward. It happened to match his half. He generously gave me the mirror and asked me about the whereabouts of the princess. I told her the details. He seemed disappointed and left his address in the city
Princess Lechang looked carefully at the two halves of the bronze mirror and found that they fit together exactly. On the paper the young scholar gave the old servant, besides the address, there was a familiar five character quatrain:
When the mirror and the people go away, the mirror returns and the people do not return;
Without the shadow of the goddess, the moon shines in the sky.
Princess Lechang held the broken mirror tightly to her chest and recited the poem silently. A passion mixed with surprise, sadness and resentment came to her heart. She burst out crying uncontrollably.
I beg to see you
Here, Yang Su didn't see Princess Lechang in the Lantern Festival banquet. She was worried and sent someone to urge her. The old servant told the visitor that the princess was in a bad mood. When the visitor saw that the princess was crying with a broken bronze mirror, he didn't dare to disturb her, so he had to go back and reply to Prime Minister Yang. Yang Su understood the situation and thought: there must be a lot of articles in this bronze mirror.
Although Yang Su is a senior official, he is still a considerate person. That night, with a very gentle and sincere attitude, he inquired about the secret in his concubine's heart. Princess Lechang could not refuse Yang Su's sincerity, so she explained the cause of the broken mirror and knelt down at Yang Su's feet to beg, hoping that they could meet each other and fulfill their wishes.
After listening to the story of the bronze mirror, Yang Su was a little jealous, but he thought that they were married and couldn't bear to hurt his concubine's heart, so he agreed to Princess Lechang's request. I thought: even if I let them see each other, it's OK. Anyway, my concubine can't run away. If I can fulfill one of her wishes, I can make her feel grateful and follow her more sincerely in the future! However, Princess Lechang's idea is different from his. She also fantasizes about how to fly back to her husband.
Meet at a dinner party
After Xu Deyan handed over the half bronze mirror he had collected for three years to Lao Dan, he was still in the mood of meeting his beloved wife very soon. Then he thought that as soon as Hou men entered the sea, Princess Lechang had become Prime Minister Yang's favorite concubine. It would be difficult for her to meet her again at magpie bridge. Even if she met, what could she do? I'm afraid it's just adding sadness. When he was in doubt, the prime minister's office had sent someone to post the invitation.
On that day, the prime minister's house had a big banquet, and Xu Deyan went to the banquet as scheduled. A minister of subjugation came to the dignified prime minister's house. The prime minister treated each other as a guest of honor, while the old wife of the guest, Princess Lechang, accompanied him as the master's favorite concubine. It was quite embarrassing. After courteous greetings, the guests and the host took their seats one by one. Princess Lechang looked at her old husband, who was already very old. She didn't know what to say, so she wrote a poem in silence
Today, when he moved, the new officials opposed the old ones;
It's hard to be a man if you dare not laugh or cry.
After three rounds of drinking, Xu Deyan gave a brief account of the situation after leaving. After a few words of consolation, Princess Lechang tactfully expressed her hope that her husband would remarry. Because he already had his own, he couldn't continue to accompany him for the rest of his life.
Full of sorrow, Xu Deyan slowly said to Princess Lechang, "goodbye, my wish is enough. I swear I will never marry again in this life. After returning to Jiangnan, I am ready to escape to Buddhism and spend my life alone with qingdeng." After that, she hid her face and wept. Princess Lechang had already burst into tears after hearing his oath.
