Lu Mao (? ~ 1768) was born in duxun, Zhangpu, Fujian Province in Qing Dynasty.
Leader of Zhangpu uprising army.
Life of the characters
In 1762, tixi, the leader of the heaven and earth society, joined the society in Gaoxi Guanyin Pavilion (now Yunxiao), Zhangpu. After joining the club, Lu Mao was friendly with he Zhe, a native of the same county. He zhe often went to the county to learn boxing with Lin Xian. In August 1767, he zhe led Lin Xian to duxun to meet Lu Mao. In October, in Lu Mao's family, Lu Mao and 10 people, including he Zhe, Lin Xian, Zheng Lang (from dulxun), Wang Zhong, Huangshi (from duluxi), Cheng Tianzhu (from Chengcheng County), Wu Sha, Wu Kang (from kumakeng) and Cai Tong (from xiatan), made an alliance by worshiping God, and promoted Lu Mao as the eldest brother, he zhe as the second brother and Lin Xian as the third brother. The rest drank Xianghui wine and vowed to be of one mind according to their age. Lu Mao gave each person a piece of Hualan Xiabu as a mark, and ordered each person to go back to recruit acquaintances to join the gang and prepare for the uprising and capture the county. Lu Mao also made up "rebellious" lyrics to teach everyone to encourage separately and attract people to participate. After several months of activities, by the beginning of the next year, 332 people had joined the alliance. Lu Mao also gave each of them a piece of Hualan Xiabu, which was marked by Baotou (four of them were afraid of regret after joining the association and did not receive the cloth). In March of the 33rd year of Qianlong (1768), Lu Mao obtained information that the soldiers of the county would go to Zhangzhou to be selected, and the city was empty. On March 8, Lu Mao asked Qi He Zhe and other ten brothers to discuss in Lin Xian's home in the county. They decided to raise a case at dusk on March 14. Wu Sha, Wu Kang and Cai Tong lead the congregation of Makeng and xiatan to attack the west gate, Lu Mao, he Zhe and Zheng Lang lead the congregation of Du Xun to attack the east gate from the East Road, and Lin Xian and Cheng Tianzhu lead the congregation in the city. On the morning of the 14th, Wu Sha and Cai Tong led 83 members of the Makeng and xiatan congregation to meet at houjingshanao, north of pudingshe, with swords, sticks, poles and Penny poles. Near noon, Lin Xian and others in the city saw a soldier walking towards the west gate. They thought that the secret had been leaked. They immediately sent someone to Houjing to inform them that they would attack the city in advance in the afternoon. Wu Sha and Cai Tong immediately led the crowd to attack the city. The city was ready. Magistrate Xu guansun and general manager Zeng Dayou led the soldiers to fight back. 33 people were killed, many injured and the rest fled. Magistrate Xu guansun searched the city, and nine people including Lin Xian and Cheng Tianzhu were arrested. As for Du Xun, Lu Mao and he zhe failed to gather the crowd to attack the county on time because some of them were afraid. On the evening of the 14th, Wu Sha arrived at Du Xun to report to Lu Mao about the failure of the siege. On the 15th, Lu Mao thought that the struggle must continue, so he wrote a "Shun Tian Dang Shi" post, distributed an invitation to the congregation, and set up a flag in Qingzhu mountain to call on them. However, the congregation had fled, and no one gathered. Lu Mao and he zhe also fled separately. Lu Mao hid in the cave and was captured by officers and soldiers. A total of 365 members of Lu Mao's 10 allied brothers and congregations were arrested. In May 1768, Cui Yingjie, governor of Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, personally went to Zhangzhou to handle a case. 40 uprising leaders, including Lu Mao, he Zhe, Lin Xian, Wu Sha and Cai Tong, were killed on May 6. 215 of them were sent to Wula (now Wula street, Jilin City) 3000 miles away. Some of them were sentenced to three years' imprisonment, while 21 others were still at large and wanted. Most of the participants in this uprising were from Makeng, followed by xiatan. The officers and soldiers wanted them. Most of the people in Makeng were innocent and disturbed, so they all fled to other places. Except for Makeng society, the people in hubangding, dayuantou, aoziding, Dapuzi, Loujiao, caopuxia, dilinzi and other societies fled. Up to now, only rubble remains in these villages, and the Wu family name of Makeng declined. Although the uprising led by Lu Mao failed, it shocked the rule of Qing Dynasty. Later, Taiwan's Lin shuangwen uprising, known as "Shun Tian general", came down in one continuous line with Lu Mao's slogan of "Shun Tian be in charge of affairs", which was also a heroic struggle against the Qing Dynasty.
