Lu Xiang (1402-1468), a native of Zhangcun, Dongguan, was born in Zhonghe. Ming Xuande ten years (1435) rural examination of Chinese style, the next year in the candidates. He is famous for his uprightness, and all the memorials and commentaries he wrote are straightforward. He served for six years and was sacrificed because of his father's death. After three years of filial piety, he worked in the Ministry of officials in Beijing. Because he impeached Wang Wen, the governor of Zhejiang Province, and was injured by his party members, he was demoted to Puzhou magistrate.
In the first year of Tianshun (1457), after Yingzong regained the throne, he appointed Lu Xiang as the Li Ke Du and conferred six salaries to Shizhong. At that time, the Wara tribe also invaded the Central Plains and sent envoys to Korea to obtain titles and a large number of properties. After a long time of deliberation, the monarch and his officials could not decide what to do. He fought against the public opinion and advocated sending troops to resist the enemy, which was accepted by Yingzong. The next year, he served as Shaoqing of Taipu temple in Nanjing. Soon, because of his mother's death, he returned home to keep filial piety. In the eighth year of Tianshun reign, he was appointed as tianfucheng, then the censor of the imperial court and the governor of Yansui border. In the autumn of the first year of Chenghua (1465), maolihai invaded the border. He and Fang Neng led the troops to resist, and maolihai was defeated. The emperor decreed that he should be rewarded with gold, silver and silk. In the second year of Chenghua (1466), Lu Xiang proposed to recruit soldiers in Qingyang Prefecture of Yan'an, which was the beginning of Shaanxi soldiers.
In the winter of the third year of Chenghua (1467), the imperial court wanted to enter the rank of Lu Xiang. Because Lu Xiang had a problem with the Ministry of official affairs, he was not allowed to stay there, so he resigned to return to his hometown and lived in seclusion. He died in May the following year at the age of 66. After hearing the news, the emperor sent Zhang Zan, the Chief Secretary of Guangdong Province, to attend the memorial ceremony and built a memorial archway named "innocent Liufang". Lu Xiang once majored in the annals of Dongguan county when he was returning to his hometown to offer sacrifices to his mother. His works include poems, memorials and so on. The villagers respect their moral character and worship their statues.
