Zhan Gutang (1882-1929), a native of Jinzhai, Anhui Province, was the Secretary of the Northeast Hubei special committee and the central county Party committee of Shangcheng County. He was killed by the Kuomintang reactionaries in 1929.

He joined the Communist Party of China in 1923. After joining the party, he engaged in educational work and carried out revolutionary activities in rural areas. In February 1929, he served as the Secretary of the Northeast Hubei special committee and the central county Party committee of Shangcheng County, and in June he served as the political commissar of the 11th independent division of the Red Army. After the troops were transferred out in July of the same year, comrade Gutang stayed in the local area and persisted in the struggle. He was arrested for informing and was soon killed by Kuomintang reactionaries.
