Gong Xu

Gong Xu (1382-1469) was a scholar of Ming Dynasty. Yi, whose name is Dazhang, is a native of Kunshan (now Jiangsu Province) in Suzhou. Jianwen was a soldier of Jinchuan at the time of Jianwen. Yan Bing arrived and fled home in mourning. He lived in seclusion and taught apprentices. Later, Zhou Chen was governor of Jiangnan. He was recommended as an apprentice. He insisted on his words and had a collection of wild antiques.

Profile

Gong Xu was born on October 11, the 15th year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty (November 16, 1382), and died in 1469, the 5th year of Chenghua, Emperor Xianzong, at the age of 88. Because of his father's duty to defend the five Kaiwei, he claimed to be attached to the army. In 1395, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty was transferred to guard jinchuanmen in Nanjing. During the reign of emperor Hui of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Di, the king of Yan, attacked Nanjing. Li Jinglong, the general of Cao state, gave in to the powerful force of emperor Hui of the Ming Dynasty and opened the gate of Jinchuan to welcome the king into the city. Emperor Hui of the Ming Dynasty shaved his head and fled disguised as a monk. Gong Xu and his guards cried and then changed his name to Wang Dazhang. He fled to Changshu and made a living selling medicine. More than 20 years later, Emperor Xuanzong of the Ming Dynasty issued an edict to treat the fugitives leniently, and Gong Xu returned to his ancestral home of Kunshan. Zhou Chen, the governor of Jiangsu Province, thought Gong Xu was a virtuous and loyal man. He recommended him to be professor taicangwei. Gong eventually refused to accept the post. Wu Na said, "it's harmless to be an official, but I'm afraid I'll have to mourn at the gate of the city!" Xu lived in seclusion in Yupu all the time and died. It was only in 1644 that Zhu Yousong, the king of Fu, completely rehabilitated him and named him "Anjie", the first "Anjie" in Southern Guizhou. He has three volumes of yeguji, which has been recorded in Sikuquanshu in Qing Dynasty. Fourteen of his poems were recorded in a brief account of Qian poetry. His life and deeds can be found in Volume 16 of the book "the pilgrimage to the state".
