Huang Chi, named Zhongshao and fangtang, was born in Putian, Fujian Province. He was the 16th grandson of Huang an, the forefather of Huang family in Putian;
Huang Chi was born in 1110 A.D., the sixth year of Shaoxing (1138 A.D.), and won the honor of leaving his name on the Dayan Pagoda in Xi'an. At the age of 28, Huang Chi was sent to Hainan by Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty to serve as a caretaker of the road administration. He was also in charge of military affairs and ten days of propaganda, culture and education. Huang Chi, 31, died of chronic fatigue and illness. He was buried in Ma'anling, Bofu village, Changliu town. After Huang Chi's death, his wife and children moved out of the city and settled in lieloudu (now Bofu village, Changliu Town, Haikou).
