Huangduan
Huang Duan (1910-1982) was born in Xiaba village, Yongtai County, Fujian Province. At the age of 16, he graduated from Wenfu (now tonganxiang) Central Primary School and then went to Fuzhou No.2 Middle School. He is quiet, studious and simple.
He was determined to serve his country. He was admitted to Huangpu Military Academy and went to Nanjing University for further study after graduation. He graduated from the Republic of China in 24 years (1935), and served as the head of the artillery station of the Nanjing Xiaguan fortress. At the end of the 26th year of the Republic of China, the Japanese captured Nanjing. He jumped into the Yangtze River and fled to Chongqing, still serving in the military. After the surrender of Japan in the 34th year of the Republic of China, he returned to Nanjing to serve as the former commander of the battery. In 1949, he was distressed by the current situation and yearned for revolution, so he secretly contacted the Communists. When the Chinese people's Liberation Army crossed the Yangtze River to liberate Nanjing, he ordered not to fire a single shot to welcome the PLA. After liberation, he was selected to study in Renmin University of China. After graduation, he was assigned to Changsha No.15 metallurgical machinery plant as a technician and transferred to Huangshi, Hubei Province as an engineer the next year. After smashing the Jiangqing counter revolutionary group in 1976, he went back to his hometown to visit his relatives and donated the property that the government had confiscated during the "Cultural Revolution" to Nankeng primary school. He died in 1982 at the age of 72.
