Gao Daokuan (1195-1277) was born in Huairen, Yingzhou (now Shanxi). Da'an years (1209-1211), avoid soldiers to Chang'an, for government officials. Due to the death of his parents, he went to Penglai nunnery in zhangtai street in 1221 to become a monk, and took anzhen as his teacher. In the first year of Zhengda (1224), you Daliang lived in Danyang temple and practiced Taoism from Li Zhiyuan (Chongxu). In the third year of Zhengda (1226), the king Wanyan Shouxu (aizong) sent an envoy to Fengxiang to enlist Yu Shanqing. He ordered Li Zhiyuan to choose another Taoist Jingyan as his deputy. Li Zhiyuan sent Gao Daokuan as his deputy. After Yu Shanqing arrived at Daliang, he was ordered to live in Taiyi palace, and Gao Daokuan lived with him. In the second year of Tianxing (1233), he went north to Yanjing. In 1240, Mongolian Emperor Taizong entered the pass with Shanqing and revived Zhongnan ancestral court. In the third year of dingzong (1248), Yu Shanqing gave him the name of "yuanmingzi", which made him know about Wanshou Palace in Chongyang and mentioned Ganhe Yuxian palace. In the second year of emperor Xianzong's reign (1252), Li Zhichang, the head of Quanzhen Taoism, went to the ancestral court to offer sacrifices and ordered Gao Daokuan to be engaged in Daolu of Jingzhao road. In the second year of the reign of emperor Zhongtong (1261), he granted Taoist advice to Xingyuan, Shaanxi Province, and led the Wanshou Palace in Chongyang, establishing the Shanggong and Wuzu hall in Nanchang. In the fifth year of Zhiyuan Dynasty (1268), King Yongchang gave the golden crown brocade clothes. In 1271, Wang zhitan, the head teacher of Quanzhen Taoism, gave him the title of "Zhichang Baode Yuanming Zunshi", and Wang Yongchang gave him the title of "Dongguan Puji Yuanming Zhenren". In July 1276, Emperor Anxi ordered him to be in charge of Taoism in Xishu. In the spring of the next year, he died in Chongyang palace, where he was buried in the garden of immortals and over ten thousand people were buried.
