After returning to China in 1927, he successively served as an engineer of Shanghai Jingcheng paper company, a professor of Hunan Higher Vocational School of industry, the director of Zhejiang Wenzhou Baihao dairy factory, and a professor of Zhejiang Yingshi University. In 1946, he went to Taiwan and served as the director of Taiwan Provincial Forestry Experimental Institute. Later, he worked in Taiwan sugar company. He successively served as the director of Zhushan, Longyan, Xiaolong and other sugar factories, the deputy director of Huwei General Factory, and the consultant of the company. After retiring in 1969, he devoted himself to the study of ancient philology. His works include the source of the oracle bone inscriptions in Weiqing and the source of Chinese characters.
