Gu Menglin (1585-1653) was a scholar during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Linshi word, No. Zhongan, known as Mr. Zhilian, Gu Yanwu brother. Nanzhili is a native of Shuangfeng Township, Taicang prefecture (now Shuangfeng town, Taicang City, Jiangsu Province). He lived in Shuangfeng and moved back to Tang city of Changshu. He was friendly with Yang Yi and was known as "Yang Gu".
Life
During the Wanli period, he advocated the study of Cheng and Zhu. In the fourth year of Tianqi (1624), Gu Menglin, Yang Yi, Zhang Pu and Zhang Cai met in Changshu and agreed to establish yingshe. The five classics system should be evaluated with the aim of "respecting classics and restoring the ancients". At the beginning, there were 11 people who joined the society, each of whom was the leader in the selection of the five classics. Zhang Pu and Zhu Kai wrote the book of changes; Yang Tingshu, Wu Changshi and Qian Zhan wrote the book of changes; Yang Yi and Gu Menglin wrote the book of songs; Zhang Cai and Wang Qirong wrote the book of rites; Zhou Quan and Zhou Zhongzhu wrote the spring and Autumn Annals. In name, yingshe regards reading as a social activity. In fact, yingshe aims to promote fame and integrity and change the social atmosphere. Therefore, it "became the ambition of several people, and then gradually spread to the world". It soon expanded from Jiangnan yingshe to Jiangbei, and then to Hebei and other places. Therefore, there are many names of Jiangnan yingshe, Jiangbei yingshe and Hebei yingshe in history. In the sixth year of Chongzhen reign (1633), he was elected as the vice governor of the Imperial College. In the Qing Dynasty, he lived in seclusion in Taicang. He taught the Mao family in Jigu Pavilion and collected books for Gu Yanwu. Wang Wan, a Suzhou Jinshi who was deeply versed in Poetics and served in the Imperial Academy during the reign of Emperor Kangxi, once said, "all the four wise officials who have affairs in Wu must ask the two gentlemen to meet." The "two gentlemen" are Yang Yi and Gu Menglin. "Although the surnames are different, the brothers are also affectionate." Gu Menglin died, and Huang Zongxi, a great Confucian, wrote an epitaph. The tomb was Shuangfeng, Lizhuang, and Jingbei. In the 38th year of Kangxi reign (1699), Mr. Gu Zhilian's ancestral temple was built in the hometown of Shuangfeng liujianan Zhilian's residence to worship the local sages. Menglin had no children and took Cheng Mei, Cheng Xin's son, as his son.

Gu Menglin wrote 20 volumes of the four books, 28 volumes of the book of songs, 20 volumes of the four books and eleven classics, 4 volumes of zhilianju poetry anthology, 1 volume of Zhongan Suolu, 4 volumes of Yunzhu and 8 volumes of shuangfenglizhi.
