Liu Wenji (also known as Liu Wenzhao) is a native of Haizhou. Liu Xiaozu, the son of Xinle Marquis, is the younger brother of Zhu Youjian's mother. In 1644, Li Zicheng broke Beijing, Liu Wenji escaped from death, and later lived in exile in Jianghuai.

Liu Wenji, who was 15 years old, narrowly escaped and returned to his hometown of Haizhou. After King Fu ascended the throne in Nanjing, Liu Wenxuan was granted the title of xinlebo. After the death of Nanming Dynasty, he lived in Gaoyou for decades.
