Liu chuxuan
Liu chuxuan, born in 1147 A.D., died in 1203. His character is tongmiao, which is called the eldest son. Donglai (now Yexian County, Shandong Province) is a founder of suishan sect, the mainstream Quanzhen Taoism in the world. Born on July 12, 1147, the 17th year of Shaoxing, Song Dynasty. He was filial to his mother and had a long cherished wish to practice Taoism. Because his mother didn't dare to disobey him, he was quiet and steadfast. In 1169, after his mother died, he became one of the seven truths in the north of Quanzhen Taoism.
Profile
When I lost my father when I was young, I was filial to my mother. I didn't admire ronghua. I was quiet and self-defense. In the ninth year of Dading, he studied Taoism from Wang Chongyang, lived in Qiyu and begged for food. After the death of emperor Chongyang, he went to Luoyang with Tan Changzhen in the tomb of Qiu shouxiao of Matan for three years, following his teacher's last words. Just as Tan Changzhen made a living by begging for food in the streets of flowers and willows. I have a lot of correspondence with tan. In 1185, he succeeded Quanzhen in charge of the religion. In 1176, he returned to his hometown in Yexian County, where he practiced Buddhism. After hearing the invitation from emperor Zhangzong of Jin, he was treated as a guest of honor. Bureaucrats and common people came in an endless stream. His outdoor performance was always profitable. Chengan four years (AD 1198) begging to return, given the name "spirit empty".
In the third year of Taihe (1203 A.D.), the immortal went. In the sixth year of the Zhiyuan Dynasty, he was given the title of "Changsheng assistant Mingde immortal", which is known as "Changsheng immortal". It is one of the "north seven truths". Quanzhen suishan school is a sect of disciples who mainly cultivate and inherit his teachings and thoughts.

In 1169 ad, Wang Chongyang traveled to Yexian County. Liu Changsheng, a military officer of Yexian County, received the news. As early as in the spring of this year, Liu Changsheng saw two songs in a secret place between the walls of his neighbor's house, which was beyond the reach of human beings. He wrote: "the military officer's cultivation is really immortal, and there must be immortal." The big characters are vigorous and the ink is still new. After Liu Changsheng looked at it, he felt quite strange. At this time, I met with Wang Chongyang. The great master of Chongyang looked at each other with a smile and asked, "do you know the ink marks on the walls?" Liu Changsheng suddenly realized. Therefore, he made a request to worship his teacher. The founder of Chongyang "still took the meaning between the walls, named Changsheng as the name, taboo xuanzhi as the place, and tongmiao as the word." At that time, Liu Changsheng was 21 years old. At this time, Qiu, Tan, Ma and Liu got together.
In the 28th year of Jin Dading (1188 AD), Liu Changsheng presided over zhaijiao in Laiyang, Shandong Province, and set up an altar to pray for rain, which was quite effective.
Liu Changsheng went to Wugong to build a temple and practice Taoism. The villagers falsely accused him of murder. Immortal Changsheng didn't plead. So he was detained in prison for nearly a hundred days. The immortal didn't have much literacy. Instead, he was able to study hard in prison. His calligraphy was excellent and had the form of dragons and snakes flying. The real man was released from prison because the murderer surrendered himself.
Learning from teachers
Liu chuxuan was born in the seventh year of Huangtong (1147, July 12) in the military officer village of Donglai, Shandong Province. He lost his father when he was young. He is famous for his cautious service to his mother. In the spring of 1169, it is said that Liu chuxuan suddenly saw on the wall of his neighbor the saying that "the military officer is really immortal, and there must be immortal people". Therefore, he decided to believe in Taoism and paid homage to Wang Chongyang, the founder of Quanzhen Taoism in Laizhou in September of the same year. Wang Chongyang presented a poem:
After fishing, I came back to see Ao again. It is known that there are immortal Cao;
Ming Lang phase call to know to meaning, wash out the flood wave ten thousand Zhang high.
He also changed his name to chuxuan, which is called Changsheng. Liu chuxuan was 23 years old.
Guanzhong cultivation
In the winter of the ninth year of Dading, Wang Chongyang led four disciples, Ma Yu, Tan chuduan, Liu chuxuan and Qiu Chuji, to bianzhou, Henan Province. In the spring of the next year, Wang Chongyang died in bianzhou. He ordered Liu chuxuan, who had not yet learned the truth, to listen to his elder martial brother Tan chuduan. Later, under the leadership of Ma Yu, the four buried Wang Chongyang in bianzhou, and then went to Chang'an and Zhongnanshan to meet Wang Chongyang's Taoist friends, he Dejin and Li Lingyang, as well as his early disciples, Liu Tongwei, Shi chuhou and Yan chuchang. In 1172, under the leadership of Ma Yu, they moved Wang Chongyang's body to Zhongnanshan, and built a house beside the tomb for the dead Master.
At the end of the mourning period in the 14th year of Dading (1174), Ma Yu, Tan chuduan, Liu chuxuan and Qiu Chuji talked at night at Zhenwu temple in Qindu town during the Mid Autumn Festival. At this time, Liu chuxuan said that he would take "fighting spirit" as his training direction. After parting from his classmates, Liu chuxuan went to Luoyang and mingled in the streets and alleys to temper his mind.
Shandong Hongdao
In the 16th year of Dading (1176), Liu chuxuan returned to his hometown, wuguanzhuang, Laizhou, Shandong Province. Since then, he has been in Shandong Province for a long time. In the 22nd year of Dading (1182), he built a Taoist temple (later named lingxu Temple) in the military officer Zhuang, and annotated Tao Te Ching and Huangting Jing. In 1183, Ma Yu died. Liu chuxuan and Wang chuxuan worked together to manage his funeral. The following year, when Liu chuxuan was in Laiyang and Dengzhou to preside over zhaijiao, the believers witnessed Wang Chongyang and Ma Yu's emergence. In 1185, Tan chuduan died, and Liu chuxuan succeeded him as the fourth leader of Quanzhen religion.
Go to Beijing in response to the imperial edict
In the winter of the second year of Cheng'an (1197), Liu chuxuan went to Yanjing at the invitation of Jin Zhangzong. When Jin Zhangzong asked Liu chuxuan about his "ultimate Tao", he replied: "the most important thing is Tao. If you have little desire, you will be safe. If you have little tax, you will be happy.". In March of the next year, he left Yanjing and returned to Laiyang, Shandong Province.
Inheritance and works
On the 6th of February in the third year of Taihe (1203), Liu chuxuan died in Zhuang lingxuguan, a military officer of Donglai, at the age of 57. In the sixth year of Zhiyuan (1269), the emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty presented it as "the immortal of Changsheng Fuhua Mingde".
Liu Changsheng has many disciples, among which the most famous are Li Feng and Yu Daoxian. Yu Daoxian was well-known for his hard work and had a great influence in the Late Jin Dynasty. Song Piyun was the eldest disciple of the eldest son's sect and later majored in daozang. He created a temple and made a great contribution to the development of Quanzhen religion.
