Guan Jiexian, born in Nanhai County, Guangdong Province, was a Jinshi in the seventh year of Chongzhen (1634) of the Ming Dynasty. He was also a minister of Shaowu government in the Southern Ming Dynasty and a Bachelor of Dongge University. He was demoted to the Qing Dynasty twice.
Chongzhen seven years (1634) Jinshi, successive Shangrao, Luling, Laiyang county magistrate. He was transferred to be the head of the Ministry of official affairs and promoted to be a doctor of the Ministry of official affairs. Beijing was occupied by the enemy and returned home. When the Longwu regime was established, he was appointed as a doctor of the Ministry of official affairs and served as deputy envoys successively. After emperor Longwu was captured by the Qing army, he and Su Guansheng supported Zhu Yuxuan as emperor and established Shaowu regime. He was the Minister of the Ministry of official affairs and a Bachelor of Dongge. Guan Jiexian is deeply relied on by Su Guansheng, saying: "there is something about Jiexian at home, but there is Yang Mingjing outside, and the strong enemy is not equal.". after the Qing army conquered Guangzhou, Guan Jiexian, Zhong Huibo, Wang Zhichen and others came down to the Qing Dynasty and kowtowed. When Li Chengdong rebelled against the Qing Dynasty and the restoration of Ming Dynasty, Guan Jie first came to take refuge and granted him the political envoy of Guangxi. After the fall of Guilin, he came down to Qing Dynasty again and lived in seclusion in Xiqiao.
