Wang Huai
Wang Huai (1099-1196), whose character is Zhi San. Li Hanlin, a bachelor and Minister of Dali temple, built Shu Shu Tang after returning to Li. Later, he was worshipped as Tang God. Wang Fen, the father of Wang Huai, a family of poets and calligraphers, was an envoy to Fujian Province.
A family of poetry and calligraphy
Wang Huai lived at the turn of the Northern Song Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty. Wang Huai was deeply concerned about the country and the people when he saw the current situation of the country's political failure and the people's poverty. For this reason, he had a heart of studying and strengthening the country since he was a child. He took self-cultivation, regulating the family, governing the country, and pacifying the world as his own duty, and devoted himself to classics and comprehensive study of various schools, so as to be inclusive and understand the past and the present. Wang Huai was honest and simple in nature, diligent and prudent as an official. He was respected by the emperor of Xiaozong and praised by Zeng Yu: "Xi Shi Zhen Jing, respect the Lord and benefit the people, Emperor Fu Yu Bi and Shu Cai Yi."
resign from office and return to one 's native town
In the 11th year of Chunxi reign (1184), Wang Huainian was 80 years old and six years old. He insisted on returning to his hometown. After being approved to serve as an official, he returned to Li and lived in houtang village of Fotang town. He has been an official for many years. In his later years, he returned to the countryside to plant bamboo, mulberry, peach and pear. Live in a quiet place and enjoy family happiness with your children and grandchildren. When you are free, you can make friends, recite poems and write Fu, which is another kind of elegant taste. Although he resigned and returned to his hometown, he didn't know that he was going to be old. He never forgot that in his lifetime, he would do something for the common people. Later, he "saw the place where he lived, surrounded by four mountains and converged by all kinds of water." but the land near the mountains was prone to drought and waterlogging, so he did his best to build a pond by bunding water. ".
County records
In the water conservancy theory of Yiwu county annals, it is stated as follows: Wuzhi's water conservancy is different from that of Western Zhejiang Province. It is located in Shangjiang River, but negative in the mountains. The soil is not wet but dry, and the potential is not easy but dangerous. It produces wheat but rice. When the water comes, the rainstorm is full. In May and June, when the rain falls, it is not enough to vomit and pour out. The number of vomit and lust is too high to kill. Therefore, the long Mu tombs in the city are not the only ones that will be lost. It is also inconvenient to irrigate the fields near the mountains. There is a common saying that it depends on the heaven, which is not an empty word. In the 13th year of Chunxi (1186), there was drought and no rain in summer and autumn. The fields and bans were cracked, the crops were withered, and there was no harvest. "The victims of the disaster have nothing to do with their works, and there are nine empty rooms, whistling with their voices.". "Rice, beans and cotton withered without harvest, there are people in the valley who can't wash their children with water, and the famine carries the road, and the starving people fill the field.". Some had to go out to beg for food. Wang Huai witnessed the hardships of the local people's life, and immediately opened a warehouse for disaster relief, but there were too many monks to support, and the people were crying for food. At this time, Wang Huaicai came to his senses and said, "it is not a special pond, but also has a potential to build a deep, wide and deep *". Due to the small capacity of the original pond and its commanding position, in the summer flood season, the flood Ran East and West, so it had to be allowed to flood. But in the dry season, there was no water for irrigation. In order to control the flood and eradicate the drought, it is necessary to increase and deepen the pond.
Building a pond
The old man is ambitious. Wang Huai, a powerful advocate of the people, donated money to assist the army. He advocated that local people should have money to contribute and make great efforts to eradicate the flood. This merit in the present age, benefits in the future good deeds, naturally obtains everybody's support and support. According to legend, just as the pond expansion project was in full swing, an old Taoist came to Yiwu from Yongkang, "calling himself the" Marquis of Kang "and touring with Gongzuo every day, crossing the terrain, building embankments, setting up sinuses, chiseling gates and erecting beams. The public believed in it. Regardless of her own age, Wang Huai, together with Kanghou, lost himself in the mountains and rivers, looked at the terrain, analyzed the geological conditions and discussed the design scheme. Kanghou seems to be an expert in water conservancy projects. His plans of building dykes and gates, digging holes and erecting bridges are all right. Therefore, Wang Huai also trusts him. Since then, the construction of dikes and ponds has been carried out according to the plan proposed by Kanghou. Wang Huai and Kang Hou had a close relationship, which made them forget their old age. Pond reservoir is the lifeblood of rice planting and the guarantee of irrigation resources. Especially in ancient times, ponds and reservoirs were the main bases for flood storage, drainage, drought relief and disaster relief. Therefore, once someone took the lead in harnessing them, local squires and people would give full support to them. However, just as we were busy, we encountered a difficult problem. As the pond was built from a strategic position, the potential was high and the water was large. If ordinary earth and stone materials were used to build the spillway, it would not be able to bear it. For this reason, he was in a dilemma. When he was struggling with no good plan, marquis Kang suddenly woke up, pointed to a nearby hill and said, "God helps me. It's not just a natural barrier! We might as well use this hill nearby to build a dike and open a hole in the middle to serve as a spillway. It will be as strong as a rock." It was only then that everyone suddenly woke up. So he built a dike on this mountain, which is more than 70 feet long, 2 feet high and 1.8 feet thick. Every year in the flood season, "spring water rises and overflows.". It is necessary to open the gates on both sides to discharge the water. If the water potential is slightly flat, it will be closed. " According to historical records, "it is said that there were three mountains flying by in the late Qin Dynasty, and they fell here. The people of Shu said that this is what they lost in Shu." Therefore, this mountain comes from Sichuan. No wonder later generations call it "Feilai mountain", and this pond is called "Shushu pond". with concerted efforts, the pond expansion project was completed in the second year of Jiatai (1202). Shushutang has a total length of 3600 steps (five feet per step in ancient times). There are three vehicles on the top of the dam and four gates. All the water from the surrounding four mountains and seventy-two streams flows into the pond, which can irrigate more than 30000 mu of farmland. The farmland benefits more than ten miles along the way.
Worship as the God of pond
Therefore, Wang Huai became one of the earliest water control figures in the history of Yiwu water conservancy. The capacity of shushutang was very large in ancient times. "When you are old, you will be able to store and discharge your sinuses, and your fields will be able to be spared." For this reason, later generations wrote poems and fu one after another, praising Wang Huai's boundless merits and virtues. Jin Juan, a great scholar of the Yuan Dynasty, once wrote a poem to Shu Shu: "the river is free, the sky is light and the sun is setting.". brush the rocks and pines to see the clouds flying on the water. Under the double herons of Jiuji, the little one returns to fishing. I don't feel that I've been singing for a long time, and my coat is wet with moss marks. In memory of Wang Huai, the dragon boat race is held in shushutang every spring when the peach is red and the willow is green. The winner will be rewarded. On July 15, 1196, Wang Huai died of no disease. At the age of 98, he was buried in Hua'an mountain in the west of shushutang. Wang Huai built shushutang, which was "beneficial to thousands of people and gracious to Zhou's neighbors". The local people offered sacrifices to him, worshipped him as the God of shushutang, and worshiped him with Kanghou.
