Detailed introduction of works
Wang Wengao's system of compiling and annotating Su Wenzhong's poems is huge, with a total of 103 volumes, including preface, general catalogue, general rules and preface, Wang Shi's annotation of surnames, xiangzan, tomb inscriptions, Shichuan, Yuping, biannian Zongan, biannian gujinti poetry, zizici slogans, and Miscellaneous Poems of song Dynasty 》One volume, four volumes of Su Hai Zhi Yu and one volume of Fu Jian Shi Tu. Among them, the most important parts are the forty-five volumes of annals general plan and the forty-five volumes of annals ancient and modern style poetry, which are the core of the book. In fact, the chronicle is an expanded chronicle of Su Shi, but different from the chronicle in the sense of pure historiography, it mainly focuses on examining the creation date of Su Shi's poems and articles, and chronology them for research. This is a lot of work and Wang Wengao's greatest achievement. Wang Wengao's research on the chronology of many poems is very accurate, and his level is higher than that of Shi Zhu, Cha Zhu and Feng Zhu. Moreover, he compiled many of Su Shi's articles into the articles of the general case as the internal evidence to investigate the background of Su Shi's poetry creation. In this way, the general case actually played a certain role as a collection of essays, which is why it has 45 volumes. The forty five volumes of annals of ancient and modern poetry correspond to the forty five volumes of annals of general records. As for Su Shi's annotation, Wang Wengao didn't do it as he did in the chronicle general case. He just relied on Feng Yingliu's su Wenzhong's poetry annotation and made a deletion on the basis of it. He didn't search all kinds of editions and compile all kinds of materials like Feng Yingliu, but basically just edited and processed Feng Yingliu's achievements, and added Ji Yun's comments and his own comments inside and outside. Therefore, Feng Baoqi, the grandson of Feng Yingliu, attacked him fiercely. Feng Baoqi said that Wang Wengao had plagiarized Feng Yingliu's achievements in the preface of the volume of newly engraved annotation of Su Wenzhong's poems in 1870. This kind of criticism is a little too harsh on Wang Wengao. Because Wang Wengao indicated the annotator of each annotation. What's more, Wang Wengao did not copy Hezhu word by word, but made some reasonable adjustments to the contents and order of Zha Shenxing's and Feng Yingliu's annotations, and deleted the redundant parts in Hezhu. After his great efforts, the length of the annotation part in the compilation and annotation of Su Wenzhong's poems is a little less than two tenths of that in he Zhu, which is more concise and to the point.
