Profile
Wang Weiyi (987-1067), famous as Wang Weide, was a physician in the Northern Song Dynasty. Renzong of the Song Dynasty (Zhao Zhen) was a medicine advocate and had a lot of research on acupuncture and moxibustion. He collected the great achievements of acupuncture and moxibustion before the Song Dynasty and wrote the book "acupuncture and moxibustion Atlas of Tongren acupoints", aiming to cast two bronze acupuncture figures. He is one of the famous acupuncturists in China.
work
There are three volumes in the book, which was completed in 1026 ad. In the book, 354 acupoints are connected according to the twelve meridians, and the names of acupoints are annotated. They are drawn and annotated by the bronze man. The pattern is complete, the content is rich, the meridians are many and systematic. It is a valuable monograph on acupuncture and moxibustion in ancient Chinese acupuncture books. The form of the book is slightly similar to the modern diagram. The book details the distance between each acupuncture point, the depth and scale of acupuncture, as well as the indications and efficacy. The first volume mainly discusses the meridian circulation, indications and acupoints of the fourteen meridians (heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, stomach, gallbladder, large intestine, small intestine, bladder, Sanjiao, heart envelope, Ren meridian and Du Meridian). The middle and lower volumes describe each acupoint in detail according to the sequence of head, neck, trunk and limbs. According to the records of Yiwenzhi, the history of the Song Dynasty, the original book consists of three volumes. Later, in the Southern Song Dynasty (Jin Dading), some people revised it into five volumes. Acupuncture and moxibustion tujinglu has five volumes, which was completed in 1026.
Academic content
Wang's contribution to acupuncture and moxibustion medicine includes three aspects: one is to confirm the acupuncture and moxibustion map of Mingtang and write the acupuncture and moxibustion map of Xinzhu Tongren acupoint; the other is to cast the acupuncture and moxibustion bronze model; the third is to engrave the map on stone.
From the compilation and production of tujing, steles and bronze figures, we can see that standardizing the theory of acupoints is one of Wang's only main academic thoughts. Wang Weiyi did a lot of collation and textual research when he wrote the new cast Tongren acupoint acupuncture and moxibustion tujing, which helped the later generations to learn the original text of Neijing and further improved the theory of acupoints.
Although the forms of tujing, stone tablet and bronze man are different, their contents are the same. Stone tablet plays a role in preserving the contents of tujing. Tongren made an indelible contribution to the visualization and visualization of acupoint teaching, and created a precedent for the practical operation of acupoint examination in acupuncture and moxibustion.
Character evaluation
Wang Weiyi was an outstanding acupuncturist and medical educator in Song Dynasty, and made an indelible contribution to the development of Chinese medicine.
Influence of later generations
In Song Dynasty, influenced by Wang Anshi's reform thought, medical education got great development. In addition to the invention of engraving and movable type printing, many medical books were organized and published. With the development of medical education, the teaching of acupuncture and moxibustion should be more intuitive, so as to facilitate students' memory and clinical use. The bronze figure designed by Wang Weiyi is not only scientific in the layout of viscera, the circulation of meridians and the accuracy of acupoints, but also highly technical. He chose refined copper to make a human body similar to the size of ordinary people. There are 354 holes carved on the surface of the body, which are filled with mercury and sealed with yellow wax to prevent silver from flowing out. For examinees, when the teacher asked a question about needling a certain point, or asked which point should be needled for any disease, the students tested the needle according to the question. If the needle is correct, Mercury will flow out as soon as it is inserted. If the needle is not right, it will not go in. The casting of bronze man has greatly promoted the development of Chinese medicine, especially in acupuncture and moxibustion teaching. Therefore, it has always been highly praised by Acupuncture and moxibustion experts. Even now, it still has the value of study and research.
