According to the preface of the book "miraculous trace of immortals and Buddhas", he "admires the splendor when he is young, but he lives in meditation when he is late", which shows that in his early years, he was keen on official career and fame, but in his later years, he went back to the mountains to seek immortality. Around the 30th year of Wanli (1602), he once lived in the area of Qinhuai River in Nanjing and devoted himself to writing.
Textual research on characters
Hong Yingming, the author of Caigen Tan, was a Taoist in the early period of Ming Dynasty. Sichuan Xindu (now Xindu county) people, later to Nanjing for official and live in Nanjing.
Feng Mengzhen said in the guide to the mirror of the dead light in the miraculous trace of the immortal Buddha that "Hong Sheng is from the family of Cheng, admiring the splendor of his childhood, and living in the tranquility of Zen in the late days". From his enthusiasm for the world in his early years to his later return to the immortal Buddha, we can see that the author is full of hardships and setbacks, which should be unspeakable. Only here can we talk about life and the road. Historians call him "a miracle of immortals and Buddhas.".
Speaking of Hong Yingming, we will only remember his greatness in writing Cai Gen tan. In fact, he also had some disappointments, and was even forced to have no way to go by a penny! At this time, the real great people are those who can control their moral integrity and character, stick to their ideas and be willing to be indifferent.
In his early years, Hong Yingming was a hot-blooded young man who was keen on world affairs. Later, he turned to the immortal Buddha and wrote four volumes of the miraculous trace of the immortal Buddha. From this, we can see that the author was full of hardships and setbacks, which should be unspeakable.
Feng Mengzhen said in the guide to the silent light mirror in the miraculous trace of the immortal Buddha: "Hong Sheng has a family of sincerity, admiring the splendor of his youth, and living in meditation and silence in the evening.".
During the Wanli reign of Ming Shenzong in Ming Dynasty, Hong Yingming once lived in the Qinhuai River area of Nanjing and devoted himself to writing.
Hong Yingming lives in a place where the soil is very poor. The vegetables grown by farmers are not very prosperous. The harvest is very poor and the life is very hard.
Farmers take their own vegetables to the market to sell. The roots are bitter and oppressive. Buyers usually remove the roots. In this way, farmers' income will be lower.
At that time, Hong Yingming's life was also very miserable. It was a pity to see a lot of vegetable roots lost. He wanted to take them away, but he didn't want to owe others anything, so he paid a little money to buy them away.
For a long time, local people call Hong Yingming "silly vegetable root".
One day, a friend visited Hong Yingming at his home. Hong Yingming treats each other with pickled vegetables and rice porridge. After tasting it in Kong, he claps the table and cheers. Hong Yingming's pickled vegetables are dark and bright in color, salty, fragrant and crisp, without the bitterness of the roots. Compared with ordinary pickled vegetables, the roots have a different taste.
When Yu Kong asked the truth, Hong Yingming said: the vegetable root tastes bitter and astringent. Ordinary people try it a little and lose it. I think it's a pity, so I pickled these vegetable roots into pickles. The reason why my vegetable root is delicious is that I know that the delicious food is too urgent. First, I salted the vegetable root and fermented it for one year to remove its bitterness and make it fragrant. Then use water to remove the salt from the roots, and dry them in the sun for three days to make them chewy. Finally, the vegetable root with pepper and other spices, and then pickled for seven days, can be served on the table.
Yu Kongjian is not only aware of the general road: "the nature is determined by the fragrance of vegetable roots.". Vegetable root is originally abandoned, and the fragrance of vegetable root can only be understood by those who are indifferent and calm. Only a person as indifferent as Hong Yingming can make the vegetable root so delicious.
His Caigen Tan was named after Caigen because of this special experience.
Hong Yingming is a very compassionate person. There is a story about him. One summer he went to the mountains. On the way, he met a poor old lady with white hair. She was selling pickles to tourists in the sun, but she couldn't sell a kilo of them. She was worried and worried.
Hong Yingming felt pity for the old lady. He found some ink and wrote several paragraphs on the paper. Two of the sentences were like this: "those who have purslane intestines are mostly pure and clean; those who eat jade in clothes are willing to be servile. The purpose is to be plain and bright, while the festival is to be fat and sweet. " "Fat, pungent and sweet is not the real taste, but the real taste is only light: magic and extraordinary are not the best, and the best is the common.
”Hong Yingming took another page of paper and wrote a sentence on it. The general meaning is: buy pickled vegetables, give Hong Yingming a true sentence of pickled vegetables.
Hong Yingming said: "all the people who visit the mountains are rich officials. When they visit the mountains, they will ask for peace and fortune. Now tell the tourists the truth of life written by Hong Yingming himself. If you buy vegetables and pickles, you will get one."
The old lady did as he said, and the pickles were bought up. The old lady made a lot of money. He happily thanks Hong Yingming again and again.
Hong Yingming is a local celebrity, and many people are proud to get the motto of CAI Gen Tan written by him. It is natural for tourists to rush to buy the old lady's pickled vegetables because of Hong Yingming's own motto. Coupled with the motto written by Hong Yingming, he cleverly regarded those who ate pickled vegetables as pure and clean people, which naturally attracted rich and noble officials to buy.
Gradually, the neighbors all know that Hong Yingming's pickled vegetables are crispy and delicious, and they come to learn from them. Hong Yingming taught the people around him how to make pickles without reservation.
These neighbors made a lot of money by selling pickled vegetables in the market. After the Qing Dynasty, many handicraftsmen in charge of pickled vegetables were very grateful for Hong Yingming's contribution to pickled vegetables. In particular, his work "pickled vegetables Tan" carried forward the spirit of pickled vegetables and became a culture that influenced the world. They sacrificed money to build temples to worship him and respected him as the ancestor of pickled vegetables.
Works introduction
1《
Cai Gen Tan
The title of the book "Caigen Tan" is from Wang Ge, a Confucianist of the Song Dynasty: "if a man bites Caigen, everything can be done. It means that as long as one is strong enough to adapt to the poor life, no matter what he does, he will achieve something. In his inscription for Caigen Tan, Yu Kongjian of Ming Dynasty further states that "Tan" is named after Caigen. It comes from the experience of Qing Dynasty and also from cultivation and irrigation. It is conceivable that it can shake up the storm and prepare for danger. He also quoted Hong Yingming as saying, "If heaven works for me to form, I will ease my heart to make up for it; if Heaven works for me, I will meet with it, and I will make up for it. Yu's explanation adds such a layer of implication, that is, in the face of adversity, a person must strengthen his own integrity, work hard, cultivate and water his ideal. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Tan Xu, who signed the name of Sanshan sick man Tongli, said, "anyone who grows vegetables must cultivate their roots, and their taste is thick. It also quotes the old saying "nature determines the fragrance of vegetable roots", which shows that only those who are calm and calm in mind can understand the intention.
Caigen Tan was written in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, which has a history of nearly 400 years. For quite a long time, it did not receive enough attention. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, the compilation of Sikuquanshu did not even include "cunmu". But recently, Caigen Tan has been popular at home and abroad. People regard it as a classic of Chinese traditional culture together with the art of war and the romance of the Three Kingdoms. Why? Hong Yingming lived in the late Ming Dynasty. During this period, the ruling power of the Ming government declined, and corruption gradually became the norm. At the same time, the civil class grew stronger, business flourished, science and technology advanced, thought was active, speech tended to be free, and social values began to turn to openness, luxury and lewdness. Secular society and civilian society have replaced aristocratic society, and terror totalitarian society has become the mainstream. This can be seen from Jin Ping Mei, which was published in CAI Gen tan. Some knowledgeable intellectuals, after experiencing the ups and downs of their official career, retired one after another. They are not willing to go along with those in power, and they are not willing to go against their will to cater to the secular social atmosphere. As a result, there are a large number of works showing the hermit's lofty and detached feelings, "Caigen Tan" is one of the representatives.
Generally speaking, Caigen Tan reflects the integration of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. In other words, this book is a set of rules of going out of the world and entering into the world, which combines the Confucian doctrine of the mean and the Buddhist thought of going out of the world, combined with their own experience.

The current is silent on the shore
The water bank is silent, the noisy place is quiet and interesting; the mountain is high and the cloud is not in the way, sometimes it is inorganic.
2、 The miraculous trace of immortal Buddha
The miraculous trace of immortals and Buddhas, also known as the miraculous trace of immortals and Buddhas in yuedan hall, consists of eight volumes. Written by Hong Zicheng in Ming Dynasty. In addition to Sikuquanshu and zhengtongdaocang, the Tao edition of the Republic of China is a reprint of the Hui version of yuedantang. The first four volumes of this book belong to Taoism, and the last four volumes belong to Buddhism. A total of 100 Xianzhen people were collected, each passing on a painting. At the end of the appendix, there are some important historical materials and research value for the study of ancient philosophy and health preservation.
This book was written in 1602, the thirtieth year of Wanli. The first two volumes record the affairs of immortals. From Laozi to Zhang Sanfeng, they record a total of 63 affairs. The second two volumes record the affairs of Buddhism, which contains 19 persons under Sakyamuni and 42 persons under Dharma, the Buddha of Xizhu. It reflects the ethos of worshiping Taoism and approaching Buddhism in Ming Dynasty. Because most of them are legends of lanes and common customs, the general catalogue of Sikuquanshu regards them as "talks of desolation and strangeness" and is attached to the category of novelists. There are 108 people in it
