Fu zhuoran (1820-1883), a native of lianzixi in Xiaogang, Qing Dynasty, was a diligent young man. In 1846, he won the seventh place in the local examination and was elected as the missionary of Mianyang in the same year. In 1851, the Taiping army captured Wuchang, and Fu led a group to fight against it. In the first month of 1856, after Hu Linyi retreated to Xindi, his army was huge and his salary was short. Fu Huo and TongZhou adopted high-pressure means to implement military donation, which made the army's salary raised and hated by the people. Therefore, he was trusted by Hu Linyi, promoted to Tongzhi and participated in the tax reform.
In his later years, he lived in seclusion in lianzixi and engaged in writing. His poems are meaningful and elegant, most of which describe the natural scenery of the water town, with a strong local flavor. Fu zhuoran's collection of poems and essays is a great collection of historical documents of Honghu. It was originally 50 volumes and lost 30 volumes in the early period of the Republic of China. There are now 20 volumes and Appendix 1.
