Shifanqi Zen master of Chu in Tianning, Jiaxing, is a descendant of Zen master Xingduan. His common surname is Zhu. He was born in Xiangshan, Mingzhou. His mother, Zhang, dreamed that the red sun was falling, so she gave birth to Zen master Fanqi. When Zen master Fanqi was in his infancy, a strange monk came to his home for a fast, touched his head and said, "this Buddha Day is also, and in the future it will be the time to promote Buddhism." Therefore, his parents gave him the small character Tan Yao. When Zen master Fanqi was four years old, his parents died and he was raised by relatives. When he was seven years old, he was full of wisdom. He read books at a glance. People from far and near were called prodigies. Zen master Fanqi left the secular life at the age of nine. He became a monk in Yongzuo Temple of Tianning and studied Confucian classics with Zen master nawengmo. Soon he went to chongen temple in Huzhou to consult the Zen master according to Jin Weng. Jinwengxun was the uncle of Fanqi when he was a layman. He had a close relationship with Zhao Mengfu, the Duke of Wei. As soon as Zhao Mengfu saw Buddhist monk Fanqi, he thought highly of him, so he paid money to buy him a monk's obituary. As a result, Zen master fan Qi was able to shave his hair. At the age of 16, he received a full commandment at Zhaoqing temple in Hangzhou. Later, Jin Weng asked the Buddhist master to move to Daochang temple, and Fanqi also went with him. First he served as a waiter, and soon he was in charge of the management of the Sutra Pavilion.
One day, Zen master Fanqi read the Shurangama Sutra. When he read the sentence "because of the light, there is no light in the dark", he suddenly felt introspective. From then on, Zen master Fanqi read all the books. He knew the meaning of the books, understood the sentences and taught them.
Since he became a monk, because he had been dealing with Confucian classics all the time, he had never been punished. Therefore, he knew that he was stuck in a famous monk and could not do his best to bind him. It was impossible for him to get rid of this situation. So he gave up the study of Confucian classics for a while and went to Jingshan to visit yuansou.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Zen master yuansou and Zen master Fanqi asked, "speech is not sound, and color is not object. What's its meaning?" Zen master yuansou asked: "speech is not sound, color is not object, speed way! Fast way Zen master Fanqi was about to answer when Zen master yuansou suddenly drank. Zen master Fanqi retreated in consternation. From then on, many doubts appeared. He was like a huge stone in his chest, and could not be stable day and night. Just in time to catch up with the emperor Yingzong of the Yuan Dynasty, he sent the monk to Beijing to write the Tibetan scriptures. Zen master Fanqi was also selected because of his good handwriting and fame. Zen master Fanqi said goodbye to yuansou and went to Yanjing to live in wanbaofang. Wanbao square is very close to chongtian gate. One night, Zen master Fanqi got up to sleep and was ready to write scriptures. Suddenly he heard that the drum of Xicheng tower was shaking. He suddenly realized that he was sweating like a rain. He laughed and said, "go to the nostrils of the mountain. Today I will enter my hands!" Then he wrote a verse, saying, "the gate of chongtian is full of drums, and the void collapses on the spot. A little snow in the red stove is ice in June of the Yellow River. "
The year of Fanqi's Enlightenment was 29 years old, which happened to be the first year of TAIDING Emperor (1324).
Passing away
In the same year, Buddhist monk Fanqi returned to the South and went back to Jingshan. As soon as Zen master yuansou saw that Zen master Fanqi's atmosphere was full, he said with a smile, "I'm happy to have my son from the West." So he let Zen master Fanqi be the first monk. Those who come and go to kowtow often make Zen master Fanqi choose. In the winter of 1324, the first year of the reign of emperor TAIDING of the Yuan Dynasty, Buddhist monk Fanqi was born in Fuzhen Temple of Haiyan under the command of xuanzhengyuan. He took over the practice of Buddhist monk yuansou. In the first year of Tianli (1328) of yuanwenzong, Zen master Fanqi moved to Yongzuo temple in Tianning, where he built a seven level floating map with a height of more than 240 feet. Since then, he has also been the abbot of Hangzhou Fengshan dabaoguo temple, Jiaxing benjue temple, Guangxiao temple and Baoen temple. In his later years, Zen master Fanqi lived in seclusion in Xizhai, Yongzuo temple, Tianning, and called himself the master of Xizhai.

In the autumn of 1370, the third year of Hongwu reign, Zhu Yuanzhang called sixteen great virtues who were proficient in Sanzang to Beijing for consultation. Chan Master Fanqi and Chan Master mengtang were also selected. In the capital, Zen master Fanqi analyzed and answered Zhu Yuanzhang's questions one by one according to the Confucian classics, and wrote a manuscript. As soon as the manuscript was finished, Zen master Fanqi was silent. After bathing and changing clothes, Buddhist monk Fanqi sat down and wrote: "the true nature is perfect, and there is no birth or death. The Trojan horse crows at night, and the sun rises in the West. " After writing, Chan Master Fanqi told Chan Master mengtang, "elder martial brother, I'll go." Zen master mengtang asked, "where are you going?" Zen master Fanqi said, "go to the West." Zen master mengtang said, "there is Buddha in the west, but there is no Buddha in the east?" Zen master Fanqi then passed away with a drink. It was July 1370, the third year of Hongwu. The spring and Autumn period is 75 years old.
Writing
During his lifetime, Zen master fan Qi wrote many works, such as quotations from Liuhui, poems of pure land, collection of travels to the north, collection of Fengshan, collection of Xizhai, three holy poems of hetiantai, poems of Yongming Mountain Residence, etc.
Zen master fan Qi believes that the key to Zen meditation is to leave the difference, forget to know the solution, and die but steal the heart. "It's just like sitting in meditation, you have to get it after you have stolen the heart.". If you don't get rid of yourself, what's the use of sitting empty? And is that cheating? That is, everything can not be read, read read out, always secretly. If you die secretly, you will not leave Buddha. " In addition, although Chan Master Fanqi entered the Tao from Zen, he finally returned to the pure land. This was a general trend in the Buddhist community at that time. Zen master fan Qi's pure land poems are very well written, and several of them are recorded for readers to taste——

Playing Prajna music in the air, lotus blossoms on the water.
The miscellaneous branches and stems make a hundred treasures. Living together and taking food are better than all the heavens.
My teacher is willing to be vertical, not waste 50 years of hard work.
(2) An inch of time and a rain of gold, I urge you to recite Buddhism and return to your heart as soon as possible.
Zhirao Fengge Longlou is very expensive. It's hard for a chicken to invade.
The cigarette in the cauldron has not been cut through at the beginning, and the air Dharma driving is far away.
Although chenchenchacha is pure, it has a deep wish of Mitha.

Xiaoguo West Lake
When I see the moon on the boat, I love her and stay with her.
The reflection of green mountains, the water and the fragrance of white lotus roots fill the lake.
The distant bell of Xianlin temple has moved, and the high lamp of Lingyin tower is almost gone.
When the west wind blows, people can't sleep. Sit and listen to fish and crabs turning wild rice.
