Li Shike
He was born in songbeiyangkeng village, Meixian County, Guangdong Province (1891-1946). He was a famous educator in Meixian County. In his early years, he graduated from the Mathematics Department of Japan Normal University. After returning to China, he served as the dean and mathematics teacher of the fifth provincial middle school (now Meizhou middle school) in February 1917, and took over the post of principal in March 1922. In January 1926, he resigned and became a professor in Guangzhou Quanqin University. In 1938, Hui Mei became the principal of Meizhou middle school again, which lasted for seven years, during which he also served as the professor of Mathematics Department of Nanhua University.
When Li Shike was in charge of Meizhou middle school, it was not long after the establishment of Meizhou middle school, and there were many changes in the school's leadership system. He worked hard to run the school well. He did a lot of work for the consolidation and development of the school and the formation of the school spirit, which won the praise of the public and the support of teachers and students. In the summer of 1922, the library was built; in the next two years, the physical and chemical laboratory and instrument specimen room were set up; in August 1924, the educational system was reformed, junior middle school classes were recruited, and the boy scout training was carried out; the sports association was set up to popularize extracurricular sports activities; in 1925, a new T-shaped building was built with a medical room. In February 1938, Li Shike attached great importance to the school affairs of Meizhou. During the Anti Japanese War, he saved 50% of the funds according to the plan, which made it difficult to run a school. He carried out Wartime Education and guided students to serve the rear in wartime. In particular, we should pay attention to social education, set up night junior high schools, set up book reading centers and night schools for the people, promote the local patriotic and democratic Anti Japanese movement, and popularize people's cultural knowledge. In 1940, a sports ground was opened up on the barren hillock after the school; on the right side of the school, a farm was opened up, vegetables and fruits were planted, and agricultural production experiments were carried out, leading the school to produce labor and work study. He has a solid style of running a school and forgets his private affairs. Although he is weak and troublesome, he has always insisted on taking part-time courses and deepening his teaching practice. He often visits students' dormitories in the evening to learn about students' learning. He is good at recruiting talents. During his tenure, he successively hired sun Boan, Huang Haizhang, sun Chengzeng, Liang Bocong and many other learned people to teach in the university to ensure the quality of various subjects. He also heavily subsidized Zhong Gaoguang to study in the United States, which was well told by teachers and students.
In February 1946, Li Shike resigned as principal because of illness and taught mathematics. In early October of the same year, he died in Meixian County at the age of 56.
