At that time, Mei Shengyu, a famous scholar, commented on Li Yaofu's famous saying: "the language before flowers is astringent, spring is still cold, and the river is flying high, and the rain is suddenly clear." Li Yaofu was talented. If he met his best friend, he would talk about poetry and painting all day long. He also occasionally talked about politics. He thought that "the Five Dynasties were far away from Yao and Shun's time", and that the way of governing the country was based on Confucian "benevolence and righteousness". His monograph is Minshan poetry, which is quite selected in the whole Five Dynasties Poetry (see volume 4 of Sichuan general annals). He refused to be an official and worked with the people all his life in the countryside of Zitong.
