Li Boyu (1908-1980) was born in Huxian County, Shaanxi Province. President (Bishop) of Shaanxi Patriotic Catholic Association. In 1926, he took part in the Esperanto class at tongyuanfang monastery in Gaoling, Shaanxi Province, with more than 40 students. The teacher was an Italian missionary to olgo givanni. After the class, Li Boyu, Gao Siqian and Zhang jingduo initiated the establishment of Shaanxi Esperanto Society and went to Xi'an to promote Esperanto. From then on to 1935, the address of Xi'an Esperanto Society published in domestic and foreign journals was Xi'an Catholic Church in Wuxing Street, Xi'an.
