Li Jiaming, male, born in 1945 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, is an academician and physicist of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 1968, he graduated from Taiwan University with a bachelor's degree in engineering. In 1974, he graduated from the University of Chicago with a Ph.D. degree. He was elected academician of the Department of mathematical physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991 and academician of the Academy of Sciences of developing countries in 1992. He has been employed as a professor of the school of information science and technology since January 2017.
Academician Li Jiaming has long been devoted to the basic research on the structure and dynamic process of excited states of atoms and molecules, and developed the multi-channel quantum number defect theory.
Li Jiaming, Professor of Department of physics, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Third World Academy of Sciences. Expert in atomic and molecular theory. Born in 1945 in Kunming, Yunnan Province. He graduated from the Department of electrical engineering of Taiwan University and received a doctorate from the University of Chicago. At present, he is the director of the research center of atomic and molecular measurement and control science and technology, Department of physics, Tsinghua University. Member of the national science and technology award evaluation committee, member of the physical science evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, member of the Chinese physical society, and member of the national "Eighth Five Year" climbing project expert group. He has been engaged in the field of atomic and molecular physics for a long time. During the Seventh Five Year Plan period, as the project leader, he undertook the research on the major scientific research project "excited states and dynamic processes of atoms and molecules" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which made the development of atomic and molecular physics in China leap to a new level. From 1980s to 1990s, the theory of multichannel quantum number defect was further developed. This paper summarizes the data and rules of atomic collision, and has won the castrer prize of 1986 established by the International Center for physics. More than 100 papers have been published.

Main achievements
Achievements in scientific research
We have developed the multi-channel quantum number defect theory, applied quantum electrodynamics to the high-energy atomic process, clarified the internal relationship between the electron bremsstrahlung process (high-energy photon energy region) and the radiation recombination process, established the relativistic multi-channel quantum number defect theory, established the theoretical basis for the analysis of the excited state energy level structure of high ionization and high-Z atoms, and established the non relativistic multi-channel quantum number defect theory At the same time, a multi-channel theoretical calculation method of atoms beyond self consistent field is established to clarify the electron correlation effect. He won the second prize of Natural Science Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1990. He won the second prize of Natural Science Award of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1992. In 1998, he won the second prize of pre research fund of China Academy of Engineering Physics. He won the He Liang He Li science and Technology Progress Award (Physics) of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China in 2002. published about 160 academic papers and co authored the monograph X-ray laser.
Honorary recognition
He won the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) kastler prize in 1986. In 1990, he was rated as a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. in 1991, the State Council issued special government subsidies and certificates for outstanding contributions to scientific research, and was rated as an advanced worker for major scientific research tasks of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Seventh Five Year Plan). in 1994, he was rated as an advanced individual in the scientific research work of the 863 program by the Commission of science, technology and industry for national defense. In 2001, he won the advanced individual award for the 15th anniversary of the 863 Program of the PLA General equipment department and the Ministry of science and technology.
