There is a myth about the origin of the name of Lianhua Mountain. It is said that a long time ago, there was an evil dragon in the South China Sea, making waves at the mouth of the Pearl River. It often flooded the fields and overturned the boats. The residents along the coast suffered from it. It happened that Guanyin from the South China Sea traveled here. He saw the evil dragon as a disaster and his life was ruined. He was merciful, so he threw his lotus into the water to suppress the evil dragon. This lotus turned into a huge stone. In Yongzhen mountain, it became the lotus stone beside the South Gate of today's Lotus Mountain. Hence the name of Lotus Mountain. Swallow rock
Swallow rock is the essence of ancient quarries. The precipice in the area is steep and steep, with huge rocks in the air, forming either a bird's path or a deep hole. It is half artificial and half natural, magnificent and majestic. Looking up from the bottom of the cliff, you can see that the four sides of the cliff face each other in a series, the strange peaks suddenly stand, the vast sky is shrunk into a patio, and the huge and steep rock is about to fall, which makes people feel shocked and dizzy. In the yanziyan scenic area, listen to the sound of dripping water on the rock and watch the flying swallows. They are moving in silence, poetic and picturesque. The climbing plants on the rocks are like a green wall. At the turn of spring and summer, flowers bloom, just like a colorful watercolor painting. With beautiful scenery and scenery, it has become the preferred location for many film and TV directors.
Some of these grotesque rocks are cut like knives, and their cross-sections are very flat; some of them are deep, like a huge shrine; some of them stand in the water, pointing straight at the blue sky, like giant pillars. These are not the uncanny workmanship of nature, but are made by our ancestors. The tools used by ancient stonemasons were very simple and clumsy, but they were very clever and experienced. According to the texture of the stone, they drilled three holes in the rock, and took turns to chisel, and the stone would break off along the texture. Thousands of years later, the texture on the stone wall is still clear and recognizable, and the degree of weathering is very low. We can see how hard the red sandstone on the mountain is.

One stone looks like a lion, perched on the cliff, facing the East, like roaring towards the Pearl River Estuary, so Lianhua Mountain is also known as "lion mountain", and the Pearl River section in front of it is called "lion ocean". According to the analysis of archaeologists, Lianhua Mountain used to be a small island on the sea. Thousands of years later, the sea has changed, the sea has receded, and the land has risen. Lianhua Mountain has become a hilly land, and the sea has become land. Lion rock was originally a rock on the edge of the island. It has been pounded, eroded and weathered by waves and sea breeze for thousands of years, and has become today's shape. It is like the faithful guardian of Lianhua Mountain, guarding Lianhua Mountain day and night. It is also the best witness of the vicissitudes of Lianhua Mountain.

Covering an area of more than 10000 square meters, the city is made into an irregular oval shape. Both inside and outside the city wall are built with stones and bricks, which is more than 10 meters high. The castle is located on a precipitous terrain.
