To commemorate the heroic struggle of Houtian uprising, it was renamed "Mars ancestral hall" by Fujian Provincial People's Government in 1961 and recognized as a provincial cultural relic protection unit. The Houtian riot memorial hall was set up here in 1963. It was supplemented and modified three times in 1978, 1988 and 2004. In 2008, in order to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Houtian uprising, the local party and government, with the purpose of "carrying forward the revolutionary tradition and highlighting the spirit of the old district", re planned Houtian uprising hall, invested a huge sum of money to repair the old site, and built new facilities such as Houtian Uprising Memorial square, exhibition room, large fixed slogans and so on. The contents of the exhibition are divided into three parts: first, the spread of social profile between Marxism and Leninism; second, the mobilization of mass armed riots; third, the persistence of the red flag of struggle.
