Historical evolution
Shanghai Science and Technology Museum is a major social education institution invested 1.755 billion yuan by Shanghai municipal government to improve citizens' scientific and cultural literacy, which is subordinate to Shanghai Science and Technology Commission.
Shanghai Science and Technology Museum was officially established by the municipal government in March 1996. The construction started on December 18, 1998, with a total investment of 1.755 billion yuan, including 855 million yuan for civil engineering and installation, 500 million yuan for the first phase and 400 million yuan for the second phase.
It was basically completed in April 2001; the ninth informal meeting of APEC leaders was held in Shanghai Science and Technology Museum on October 21, 2001; and the first phase of the exhibition was open to the public on December 18, 2001.
On May 14, 2005, phase II exhibition was completed, and the exhibition area of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum reached 65000 square meters.
Exhibition Profile
Science cinema of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum has four distinctive cinemas: IMAX three-dimensional giant screen cinema, Iwerks four-dimensional cinema, IMAX ball screen cinema and space digital cinema. These four characteristic cinemas are distributed in the exhibition area of the science and Technology Museum, forming the largest science cinema in Asia.
There are more than 800 seats in the studio.
Giant screen cinema and ball screen cinema are located on the ground floor, 4D cinema on the ground floor and space cinema on the ground floor.
Giant screen cinema
The IMAX stereo giant screen theater is the first large three-dimensional theater in Chinese mainland. Three dimensional giant screen cinema has a huge screen, 18.3 meters high and 24.3 meters wide (equivalent to the height of a six story building), which can accommodate 441 viewers. The projection equipment of stereoscopic giant screen cinema adopts 70 mm 15 hole IMAX dual projection system, which uses 70 mm 15 hole film picture frame 10 times of ordinary 35 mm film. When the stereoscopic film is shown, the huge picture of six floors makes the audience have a strong shock. There is a 6 + 1 channel sound system in the cinema, and the soundtrack and special sound are broadcast simultaneously through more than ten groups of loudspeakers.
Ball screen cinema
IMAX ball screen cinema is a novel film and television place with double functions of ball screen film and sky show, integrating education and entertainment. The screen has a diameter of 23 meters and an inclination of 30 degrees. The inclined screen can make the audience feel floating in the air. It can hold 280 spectators. The projection equipment of ball screen cinema adopts 70 mm 15 hole IMAX single projection system. During the projection, the projector rises from the elevator to the central projection window of the cinema. The 70 mm film is projected onto the inclined spherical screen through the 165 degree fisheye lens. The picture is clear and stable, covering more than 85% of the screen. The digital astrometer system is used in the demonstration of sky image program in ball screen cinema, and "sitting quietly in a room, traveling in space" is the concrete portrayal of sky image demonstration. The star sky demonstrated by the planetarium is realistic and accurate, and can simulate the star sky and star movement seen on the earth, anywhere in the solar system and at any time. Many rare astronomical phenomena, such as solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, comet, meteor shower and so on, can be reproduced and predicted in the ball screen cinema. According to the teaching requirements, the planetarium can also demonstrate planetary motion, astronomical coordinates, constellation graphics, bright stars, nebulae, star clusters, galaxies and galaxies. In addition, with the help of auxiliary projectors, the planetarium can demonstrate the view of the universe on a planet other than the earth that only astronauts can see.
Siwei cinema
Four dimensional cinema is a Disney concept cinema, which can accommodate 56 audiences. It is composed of three-dimensional movies and one-dimensional environmental effects. During the screening, the environmental watering, water spraying, air blowing, smoke and seat sinking in the cinema change with the story of the film, making the audience feel the rain, sea water splashing, falling into the trap, crab biting legs and other phenomena, completely integrating the audience with the film.
Space cinema
Space cinema is the first multi-media ball screen cinema in China that integrates video splicing, image processing, audience interaction, computer integration and other technologies. There are six video projectors in digistar3 system, and the lighting power reaches 4800 watts. Under the control of a computer, they transmit six connected images on a 13 meter diameter spherical screen, forming a complete global screen image.
There are 69 seats in the whole theater, and the seat inclination reaches 23 degrees. The audience almost lies down to watch the movie. The most novel thing is that there is a control button on the armrest of each seat. The audience can press this button to control the development of the movie plot, achieving the state of "painting moves with people, people think with painting".
