Historical evolution

In Song Dynasty, it belonged to hanenli, Anren township. In Yuan Dynasty, Qingshan inspection department was set up. Ming Dynasty belongs to the fifteen capitals. In the 21st year of Hongwu (1388), there was a garrison station of lu'ao, belonging to the military establishment and subordinate to zhenhaiwei. Linhai jiansuo city is surrounded by Qingshan mountain, which looks like "juao Zaiyue", named lu'ao city. From then on, Qingshan was renamed lu'ao mountain. The population of lu'ao garrison belonged to military status, which played an important role in resisting the invasion of Japanese pirates in the early Ming Dynasty.

During the reign of Jiajing, the garrison was lax and the Japanese pirates drove straight into the mainland. In the last years of Jiajing, after Qi Jiguang and Yu Dayou came to Fujian from Zhejiang Province to suppress the Japanese pirates, Qi Jiguang moved away and left a part of the army stationed in Fujian coastal defense. One of the battalions was stationed outside the city of lu'ao, which was called "Zhejiang barracks" and once exchanged with Tongshan local barracks.

In the Qing Dynasty, the military status was abolished and the Baojia system was implemented. In the Shunzhi period of the early Qing Dynasty, luao and Longao were set up. In the first year of Kangxi (1662), the villagers moved to Taiwan. In the 18th year of Kangxi's reign, many villagers did not return to live in lu'ao, and the population decreased greatly. In the 39th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi, Baojia was reorganized, and lu'ao and Long'ao were reorganized into the first one. After that, many people from the old town and Shentu area moved to settle in lu'ao, and the population of the peninsula gradually increased.

In the early years of the Republic of China, the "Li Lin" system was implemented, and the whole peninsula was designated as liuaoli (lu'ao was abbreviated as "liu'ao" at that time). At first, it was under the jurisdiction of the Eastern District, and then it was divided into the first district (the District Office was located in the old town). In 1940, liuao township was set up, under which there were seven guarantees: Ying, Chengjiang, Aoxi, Aodong, DAAO, Longnan and Longbei. In 1952, it was changed to the ninth district (Shentu District), which was divided into four townships: AOZHONG, Xialiao, dingdaao and Longmei. After agricultural cooperation, it was merged into liuao Township in March 1958. In September 1958, it was changed into Shentu commune, with liuao management area and five production teams in charge of AOZHONG, Xialiao, Shanmen, DAAO and Xincuo. Liuao commune was established in July 1961, which has jurisdiction over eight brigades, namely Longmei, Xincuo, DAAO, Shanmen, Dongmen, AOZHONG, Xialiao and Xiaying. In September 1984, the government and enterprises were separated and changed into liuao Township, which governs nine administrative villages, namely Aodong, Aoxi, Longmei, Xincuo, DAAO, Shanmen, Dongmen, Xialiao and Xiaying.

The city walls of liuao ancient city are all built with long strips of granite. They circle around the mountain, 1931 meters in circumference and 2-3 meters in thickness. It is not only unique in structure, but also second only to Chongwu ancient city in length. The city was built with battlements of triad. There are three gates in the south, North and southwest. On the north gate, which is the main gate, there used to be a 10 meter high tower. Outside the gate, there are a urn, a stone square and a temple for the emperor. In addition, there are five water gates on the East and west sides of the city, which can be used for flood discharge and for soldiers and people to enter and leave when there is no war. Banyan trees are planted all over the mountain. The roots of banyan trees are like huge dragon claws, holding the city wall and rocks tightly. More than 100 ancient banyan trees of different sizes are growing in groups or gathered together. The roots of banyan trees climb the city wall, forming a landscape of "city built in the forest, banyan grow in the city", which is a rare coastal spectacle.

Liuao city is basically well preserved, and its old appearance depends on it. When Beiying filmed the color feature films "the world of yin and Yang" and "happy hero", it chose this magical, unique and beautiful ancient city as its main location. Some martial arts scenes in the TV series "Kangxi Empire" which was made not long ago also chose here. There are many natural boulders on the mountain. There are still three cliff inscriptions on the boulders, one engraved with five poems and five stone tablets. Among them, the most famous one is "a rugged stone, facing the sky in the sea alone, the earth goes southeast, and the mountains dare not go forward". The city also has a large combat readiness underground cave, Aodong, which was sealed up by the government in peacetime and is now applying for opening to the outside world.

Liuao ancient city is a living history textbook. Walking into the ancient city is like walking into the history of Ming Dynasty hundreds of years ago. After thousands of years of weathering by sea breeze and erosion by sea water, the abstract Gallery has formed reddish brown irregular geometric patterns on the light colored base of granite, just like the modern abstract painting. Its patterns are different in shape, with thousands of landscapes, scattered and coherent, forming a unique natural landscape of weathering and sea erosion of granite, which is called by geological experts Abstract gallery. Along the rugged tunnel into, as if into the cave fairyland, "love Mazu" and "Haixia" the main location of the two films are shot here.
