Baojing Dong Village
Far away from the famous historical and cultural towns in China, there is a fascinating place, which is located 39 kilometers south of the county. It has a history of more than 300 years, with nearly 400 households and 2000 Dong compatriots. This is the largest North Dong village in China.
Development history
Baojing village faces south, surrounded by green hills. The whole Dazhai village, from north to south, from high to low, is shaped like a cuojikou. The green wooden structure houses follow the terrain, row upon row, with density alternating, very directly under the central government in the narrow valley between the two volumes. According to the custom of the masses, Baojing is divided into upper, middle and lower villages. The upper village has a water tower, while the middle and lower villages have two eyes of water Wedelia and a pond, so the domestic water is more convenient. There is a white fruit tree in Zhongzhai, and a stone tablet beside the road sill at the foot of the tree. The inscriptions are engraved in the shade, and the four words "immortal" are engraved on the forehead. On the right side of the stele, it is written that "the big and the small raise money to become beautiful, keep one of the ancient trees, and this generation will be immortal.". On the left side of the stele is written "June day, the fourth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty". On the east side between Shangzhai and Zhongzhai, there is a raised hill with grotesque stones, which is like a bonsai. On a sunny day, girls come here in groups to embroider, sing and have a tryst. In the East, North and west of the village, there are ancient maple and green cypress, and in the south is Baiyan village. Between Baiyan and Baojing, there is a mountain full of pine trees. People call it "huoyanbao", which is planted with pine trees all the year round. It has become a scenic spot of Baojing Dong village.

Modeling purpose
The shape and use of the house here is unique, retaining the traditional dry column style and use. Today, in the pursuit of the better, many local western style houses have sprung up, traditional wooden houses are less and less, and wooden houses are facing disappearance. But this place still preserves the pure color wooden house, and is the traditional dry column house modelling. The houses are located in the mountains, row upon row, rising in order, full of personality and the most distinctive. In fact, they are a wonderful flower of the buildings on the hillside of the mountain area, and also an epitome of the traditional Dong style buildings. The construction of wooden house with dry fence is not only exquisite in appearance, but also mechanical. It is a perfect example of traditional Chinese architecture. In terms of housing use, the ancestors of the Dong nationality adopted the measure of "people live on, animals live on", which is unique. This not only effectively saves land and timber, but also prevents stealing livestock. It can also prevent moisture and summer, prevent snakes and resist animals. How smart the Dong people are!
It's rare for a village with many surnames to live in harmony. In rural areas, especially in ethnic minority areas, the vast majority of people live by surnames, and it is common to take place names by surnames. Baojing is home to hundreds of surnames, including the Lucky Dragon surname, the capable Liu surname, the perfect Zhou surname, and the surnames of Tian, Tai and Li. All surnames meet: within the stockade, regardless of surname, they are regarded as one family. They are as close as brothers and sisters. The surnames of Zhou, long, Li and Tian who report to Beijing do not intermarry with each other. This kind of good custom effectively avoids the close relative marriage. In rural areas, especially in remote areas, it is rare for all surnames to live in harmony for a long time.
style
Baojing not only has unique housing style, but also has unique eating habits. The local people like glutinous food and sour vegetables. Everyone loves to eat, everyone can do it. Cooking glutinous rice, wrapping glutinous rice cake, visiting relatives and friends, weddings and funerals are inseparable from glutinous rice and glutinous rice cake. Every household has sauerkraut, soups and pickles. Serving dishes every day is inseparable from sauerkraut, and entertaining distinguished guests is inseparable from pickled (read á n) dishes. Many people have preserved pickled vegetables in soups for more than 100 years. There is a local saying that "don't eat sour food for three days, but fight and scurry when walking (walking is weak, leaning East by West)", which is enough to show that the Dong people in Baojing like eating sour food and glutinous food.
Baojing Dazhai has rich Dong customs, especially "March 3".
Baojing is the first ethnic customs spot open to the outside world in Zhenyuan County and the first group of ethnic and folk culture protection villages in the prefecture. "March 3" sowing festival was listed in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage declaration projects in Guizhou Province. This is an ideal classroom for teaching traditional culture, and it is also the best paradise for people to experience the simple national customs.
