Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture Museum
Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture Museum is located at the southern end of Lucheng, the capital of the prefecture. It is one of the three major museums built in Yunnan Province during the Eighth Five Year Plan period, and is also the largest comprehensive museum in the national minority autonomous prefecture. The construction of the museum started in June 1993 and opened on July 21, 1995 during the torch festival of the Yi people in Chuxiong. The design and architecture make full use of the height difference of the hillside terrain, and make the layout according to the situation of the mountain. It combines the architectural style of the Yi People's houses such as the earth Palm House, the wood stack house and the modern big roof, so that the architecture not only highlights the strong local national characteristics, but also reflects the grand momentum of modern architecture.

Chuxiong Museum covers an area of more than 60 mu, with a total construction area of 11200 square meters, and its plane layout is hexagonal. The exhibition hall covers an area of more than 7000 square meters. The museum is lush with green grass and flowers. There are 8 exhibition halls and 12 exhibition rooms, including preface hall, paleontology hall, historical relics hall, nationality hall, Chuxiong local party history hall, calligraphy and painting hall, animal and plant specimen hall, Dongjing music hall, etc., displaying more than 8400 pieces of various cultural relics.

Lobby
In order to display the topography, geomorphology, administrative divisions and distribution, transportation network, population and ethnic groups, natural resources, national culture essence and the important activities of the leaders of the Chuxiong and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Chuxiong, the preview hall takes an image and vivid river model.
Department of Paleontology
The paleontology department is divided into five units: dinosaur world, marine life, terrestrial animals, Lufeng ancient ape and Yuanmou ancient ape. In the form of pictures, characters and fossil specimens, it introduces the long historical evolution process from trilobites to ancient ape on the earth. On display are the Rama hominids from Lufeng 8 million years ago and the Rama hominids from Yuanmou 4 million years ago. These fossils prove that Chuxiong is one of the birthplaces of human beings.
Hall of historical relics
The historical and cultural relics hall is divided into four units: Paleolithic cultural relics, Neolithic cultural relics, bronze age cultural relics and Yuan and Ming Dynasty cultural relics. There are tooth fossils of Yuanmou Man and Paleolithic objects about 1.7 million years ago on display, various objects unearthed in Neolithic age and restoration of sarcophagus tombs, and Wanjiaba bronze drum of Chuxiong in bronze age.
Department of Nationalities
The ethnic hall is the largest exhibition hall in the museum, with four exhibition rooms, focusing on the production, life, customs and other objects of the Yi people. It displays nearly 100 sets of different costumes and hundreds of hand-made embroidery of the Yi people, as well as the tiger totem of the Yi people, bimo culture and the crystallization of the ancient culture of the Yi people - "October solar calendar".
Local party history Hall of Chuxiong, CPC
The local party history Hall of Chuxiong of the Communist Party of China displays the early revolutionary deeds of Zhao Zuozhuan, Yao Zongxian, Bi Changjie, Zhang Fei and other outstanding communists from Chuxiong during the great revolution; the glorious achievements of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army in the long march of Chuxiong; and the literature and history materials during the war of liberation.
Painting and calligraphy Hall
There are more than 100 pieces of calligraphy, painting, paper cutting and other works of art with certain attainments in China collected and displayed in the calligraphy and painting hall, of which dozens are Yi calligraphy works. There are also the original works of Guo Moruo, Panchen master and others.
Herbarium of animals and plants
The herbarium of animals and plants is divided into five units: seed plants, terrestrial vertebrates, nature reserves, freshwater fish and forest insects. Through the observation of many animal and plant specimens, people can have a general understanding of the rich animal and plant resources in Yi Prefecture.

Ming blue and white can with Ruyi Kaiguang pattern
The Ming Dynasty cultural relics are 40.5 cm in height, 16.4 cm in diameter, 32.4 cm in abdominal diameter and 15.5 cm in bottom diameter.
Unearthed in Shilong village, Heijing Town, Lufeng County. Baozhu new cover, straight mouth, short neck, bulging belly, abdomen gradually closing, small flat bottom; cover decorated with fish algae pattern, banana leaf pattern; neck decorated with round pattern; shoulder decorated with Ruyi Kaiguang bamboo grass pattern; abdomen decorated with tangled branches peony, abdomen decorated with Yang lotus pattern.
Wanjiaba rope pattern bronze drum in spring and Autumn Period
The cultural relics of the spring and Autumn period are 28 cm in height, 34 cm in face diameter, 46 cm in carcass diameter and 48 cm in foot diameter.
Unearthed in Tengchong County, Yunnan Province. Bronze, plain face, protruding carcass, waist girdle, feet outside; waist and feet decorated with rope pattern; drum surface has four square holes.
Blue and white eight Kaiguang figure pot in early Ming Dynasty
The cultural relics of the early Ming Dynasty are 27 cm in height, 16.5 cm in diameter, 30 cm in abdominal diameter and 15.7 cm in bottom diameter.
Unearthed in Shilong village, Heijing Town, Lufeng County. Straight mouth, rolled lips, short neck, sliding shoulders, bulging abdomen; abdomen adduction; flat bottom; shoulders and abdomen decorated with eight open light figure pattern, lower abdomen decorated with lotus pattern.
Spring and autumn copper button decoration
The cultural relics of the spring and Autumn period are 14.6 cm in diameter.
Unearthed from the ancient tomb of Zhangjiatun in Chuxiong. Round, round button, button decorated with triangle pattern and three string pattern; inner and outer area decorated with string pattern, connecting point pattern, rope pattern, deformed animal pattern; back cast with a hook.
Wanjiaba bronze drum of Warring States Period
The cultural relics of the late Warring States period are 34 cm in height, 26 cm in face diameter, 39 cm in carcass diameter, 30 cm in waist diameter and 44 cm in foot diameter.
Unearthed in Mouding County. Bronze, round drum face, protruding carcass, feet turned out; drum surface has awn pattern, drum body has two fan lines, waist has two symmetrical bridge shaped ears.

Every Sunday, the Chuxiong Dongjing music research association and the museum jointly hold a Dongjing music recital, inviting folk artists and Dongjing music lovers to play Dongjing classical music, so that the audience can experience its elegant music charm.
