Introduction to architecture
The library was built in the early years of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty. It was originally a building with a bucket like structure on the top of the mountain. It faces north and faces three rooms wide. Later it was destroyed. In 1992, Guiyang city and Huaxi District invested in the reconstruction. After the reconstruction, the book house faces west from East. It is a brick and wood structure with double eaves on the top of the hill, and covers an area of 300 square meters. When you enter the Tongye library, the portrait of Zhou Yuhuang and his wife is hung in the main hall, dressed in official clothes and sitting upright without losing the Confucian style. In each wing room and upstairs, Zhou Yuhuang's poetry collection, used utensils, read books, and calligraphy and painting works of literati and poets are displayed, which is very rich. Outside the study, there are stone courtyard, stone desk, stone stool, shadow wall gate, grass Pavilion and lotus pool. The legendary Huiquan is at the foot of the slope. The environment is very quiet.
Life of the characters
Zhou Yuhuang (1663-1714) was named Yuhuang, Qiwei, Tongye and Zaigong. It is said that Zhou Yuhuang had a bad memory when he was a child and his academic performance was poor. In a rage, his teacher beat him with a ruler. However, he jumped down from Huiquan and drank the mountain spring water flowing from the crevice of the rock. Then he suddenly became intelligent. At the age of thirteen or fourteen, he was able to write lantern poems which were recited by thousands of people. At the age of seventeen, he won the third place in Guizhou provincial examination, and soon won the "rural interpretation". In 1694, he was a Jinshi in the 33rd year of Kangxi reign, and he was a good scholar in the Imperial Academy. After that, he successively held the important posts of Zhejiang provincial examination examiner, Zhan Shi Fu, Zhan Shi and Zhili (now Hebei) school politics. He was appointed to participate in the compilation of Kangxi dictionary and wrote Tongye poetry collection.
In 1714, Zhou Yuhuang died of illness and was buried in Songpo, one kilometer south of Qilong village, Qiantao township. The tombstone is 2.5 meters high and 0.75 meters wide. It is inscribed with the four characters "You Qi posterity" and inscribed in regular script with the inscription "emperor Qing Gao confers Tongyi doctor, daily talks about daily life note official, Zhan Shi Fu, Zhan Shi, and the official bachelor degree of Hanlin academy plus one grade of Duke Zhou Qiwei's tomb".
