Five kilometers east of Pingnan County along pingning second-class highway, lies an ancient village with a history of more than one thousand years, named Longtou village in ancient times. In 876 A.D., the village covers an area of 31 square kilometers. There are 812 households with a population of more than 4000. Juetou village has a long history, profound cultural accumulation, bright cultural landscape and simple residential buildings.
Juetou Village
Fantou village is an administrative village under the jurisdiction of Tangkou Town, Pingnan County, Fujian Province. It is located 4.5 kilometers along the 303 provincial road to the east of Chengguan, Pingnan County. Based on the third year of Qianfu (876 A.D.) of emperor Fuzong of Tang Dynasty, Futou village has a history of more than 1000 years. It is the leading place of "four big book villages" in Pingnan since the establishment of the county in the Qing Dynasty. It once had the reputation of "good Futou in Pingnan". The total area of the registered residence is 31 square kilometers, with a population of more than 3000 people (including Chengguan bats ridge). The permanent resident population of this village is over 500, and overseas Chinese and overseas compatriots at home and abroad and more than 1000 people from Pingnan, Macao and Taiwan are among the largest built villages in the county.
The local culture, such as imperial examination, folk custom, drama, martial arts, diet, etc., as well as local historical and cultural monuments are well-known in Pingnan and some counties and cities in Northeast Fujian. It once enjoyed the reputation of being the first of the four book villages in Pingnan. There were more than 200 imperial examiners in Ming and Qing Dynasties, including Huang Tong who participated in compiling Yongle Dadian of Ming Dynasty, Zhang Fangju and Zhang Zhengyuan who were deeply concerned by Lin Zexu, and Zhang Zan, a member of the alliance who compiled Guoyin Baodian. It is also known as the "hometown of drama". Four of Pingnan's seven local operas originated here. At the same time, the martial arts culture of juetou has a long history. As early as more than 200 years ago, tietou monk (Chen yunqi) of Shaolin Temple in Quanzhou, who escaped from the disaster, lived in seclusion in ciyin temple in the north of the village and taught martial arts here. Therefore, the saying that "juetou martial arts is the best in Northern Fujian" has been passed down from generation to generation, retaining the fine tradition of practicing martial arts.
History and culture
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties alone, there were more than 200 people who participated in the imperial examination. Huang Tong, who participated in the compilation of Yongle Da Dian of the Ming Dynasty, was highly concerned about by Lin Zexu as "two Jinshi of uncle and nephew" and "three Gongsheng of father and son" who were promoted to the list of trees. Nowadays, the style of advocating reading is even more popular in Shuxiang. Fortunately, many families like "one school, two doctorates" come out one after another. Chutou is still the "good Chutou" in Pingnan.
This is a village with profound cultural accumulation. In ancient times, it used to be the main traffic route from Jianning to Funing and Fuzhou, and it was the midpoint of land and sea exchanges. Therefore, the glorious history left many cultural elements for Futou, which were well preserved. Today, when you enter the village, you can see historical relics everywhere.
Well preserved Ming and Qing ancient dwellings, ancestral temples, ancient temples, ancient tombs, ancient dragon wells, ancient couplets, ancient plaques All of them are antique and full of ancient flavor, which makes people feel the sense of time reversal. Look at the dozens of ancient plaques engraved with "Wenkui", "Wukui", "husband and wife with a hundred years old" and other contents. How can you not be proud of them? Look at the more than ten filial piety workshops built in less than a hundred years of the Qing Dynasty. Why don't you feel a lot about it?
As a matter of fact, there are more things that people can enjoy in the village! Any ancient house, any section of ancient wall, or any ancient lane is full of the sense of passing through history. If explained by the old people in the village, the story here will be like the water in the carp stream passing through the village, which is endless, and people can't help sighing.
Kotou is open. Its position as a transportation hub in history made it naturally accept Confucian culture, Taoist culture and even Christian culture. Today's JuTou people are not closed. As long as you are interested in seeing cultural relics, the owner will smile calmly and move out everything they regard as "heirloom" to satisfy your desire and explain to you how different this is from the deep-rooted farmers' consciousness since ancient times!
The folk culture festival held in the village, the head leaders performed traditional martial arts, opera and other home keeping skills, displaying ancient objects such as ancient plaque, ancient Wutong tree couplets and so on. Their hidden consciousness of openness did not impress the foreigners.
