In 1956, Ping'an cinema underwent a simple transformation to increase the stage area and was renamed "Tianjin Concert Hall" in that year. From its completion in 1922 to the 1990s, Ping'an Cinema (Tianjin Concert Hall) has always been the vanguard of Tianjin's film projection industry. In its decades of operation, it has created a number of "best" in Tianjin's film industry. Many performances and film projection have opened up the precedent of Tianjin's film projection industry.
Historical development
When it comes to the demolished Tianjin Concert Hall waiting to be rebuilt, it naturally brings back the memories of many old Tianjin people. These memories may be the excitement after watching a movie, the satisfaction after listening to a high-level performance, the heart beating after seeing an artist I admire, and the sweetness and sadness of a relationship. From the completion of the concert hall in 1922 to the demolition of the concert hall in 2005, the number of films, symphonies and cultural commemorative activities performed in the 83 year history of the concert hall can not be summed up in a few figures. But in these countless performances, some have become the symbols of recording the history of the concert hall and the cultural life history of Tianjin citizens. In order to review these brilliant symbols, we find Mr. Yang Wenshu, who has been the manager of the concert hall for 17 consecutive years from 1975 to 1992. He introduced us to the history of the concert hall and its important performances.
Early history
Ping An cinema
According to Yang Wenshu, at the beginning of its construction in 1922, Tianjin Concert Hall was called Ping'an cinema, with a total construction area of 3434 square meters. It only played movies and had no other performances. Because it is located in the center of Tianjin, and at the beginning of its construction, the cinema screened world-class Hollywood blockbusters with a high attendance rate, so it has a great reputation. In 1956, after Ping'an cinema was nationalized, it was named Tianjin Concert Hall. According to Yang Wenshu, the records of the first years of the concert hall's films and performances were originally very detailed and comprehensive, but many precious materials were destroyed during the cultural revolution. However, the former Ping'an cinema created a glorious history of Tianjin film industry in that era when cultural life was relatively scarce.
It is reported that Ping'an cinema is the earliest cinema in Tianjin and the first one opened by foreigners. After four times of relocation, it was finally located in Xiaobai building. In the history of Ping'an cinema, silent short films were shown by hand projector in 1900. On March 23, 1924, after Lenin's death, the Socialist Youth League led by the Tianjin prefectural committee of the Communist Party of China and more than 500 patriotic youths from all walks of life held a memorial meeting here. After the meeting, the documentary film "the funeral of Lenin" was screened. At that time, the title of the film was "the funeral of Lenin", a total of six copies. This is the earliest record of the Soviet film screened in Tianjin. One day at the end of 1929, there was a sound film, the American Fox Film "singing and dancing". This is the first time that a sound film has been shown in Tianjin, which is the first time that a sound film has been shown in Tianjin. In addition, in terms of publicity, the managers at that time were also innovative. In order to make the film more popular, during the screening of the documentary of World War I, the staff borrowed a armored car from the US military camp (located at the Hexi courtyard of Tianjin Medical University at the intersection of jinmachang road and Guangdong Road) and placed it at the entrance of the cinema to make a live advertisement for the film. This is also the first time that Tianjin film industry used real objects as film advertisements. These past events, which have been covered with dust, have become the records of the history of Ping'an cinema.
Tianjin Concert Hall
In 1956, after Ping'an cinema was nationalized, it was named Tianjin Concert Hall. Since then, it has not only played movies, but also held music performances and various commemorative activities.
In recent years, while adhering to the high culture performance, the concert hall also continues to reserve a place for the public to watch movies. In September 1999, Tianjin Concert Hall spent 100000 yuan to buy out the broadcasting right of the film "spring fantasy" in Tianjin. This move has created a precedent for Tianjin's film industry. Out of confidence in the market feedback of the film directed by Teng Wenji and starred by Shao Bing and Qu Ying, the film has achieved good results after its exclusive release in the concert hall.
Heyday
Brilliant stage
In Yang's memory, after the transformation of the concert hall in 1985, it entered a brilliant stage. "After transformation, the original stage will be expanded to accommodate a large Symphony Orchestra of 100 people," Yang said. A concert hall is a real concert hall. "
After the renovation of the concert hall, Tianjin People's Art Troupe, Symphony Orchestra of Central Conservatory of music, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra and many other art groups came here to perform. In 1983, the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a friendly city between Tianjin and Kobe, Japan, was held here. Many famous artists at home and abroad came here to meet with Tianjin audience. After that, Sheng Zhongguo, a famous violinist, held a solo concert here. Tickets for the performance were so tight that it was hard to get a thousand dollars. During the performance, the audience under the stage listened attentively, so quiet that they could hear a single pin. The world famous conductor Mr. Zhu Hui's "journey to Europe - large symphony concert" also caused a boom in Tianjin that year. In addition to Sheng Zhongguo, pianists such as Liu Shikun, Bao Huiqiao and Lang Lang have also stepped onto the stage of the concert hall for many times to hold solo concerts. In addition, Beijing Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Youth Symphony Orchestra have also come here to perform. In those years, no matter what the performance, the concert hall was always full and full.
Mr. Yang said that in recent years, in order to open up exclusive performance venues for high culture, even if the economic interests are affected, the concert hall is determined not to accept popular performances. After the concert hall has become a special performance venue for Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, it has brought countless good works to the people of the city, giving more and more people the opportunity to understand and enjoy the elegant art.
Looking forward to renovation
At the end of the interview, Mr. Yang said with emotion: "I remember that one year Yin Xiumei and others performed in the concert hall. At that time, we arranged a standard lunch of two yuan for them. They all said that the standard was too high and they didn't want to go. At that time, the actors shared a room with several people, and the backstage staff lived backstage. Although the performance conditions are difficult, these artists bring endless joy and artistic enjoyment to the people in Tianjin in the concert hall. It is hoped that the rebuilt Concert Hall will continue to bring more and better performances to the people of Tianjin and enrich their spiritual life. "
New period
New scale
The building area of the concert hall is 4860 square meters, which is divided into the front hall, main hall (Auditorium), stage (Performance Hall), backstage (dressing room), rehearsal hall, VIP reception hall, etc. the hall is designed in strict accordance with the acoustic requirements of holding large-scale symphony concerts, taking full account of large-scale orchestra performance, increasing the stage area, while the auditorium area is also appropriately expanded. The stage is set on one side of the auditorium, 20 meters wide and 11 meters deep, and can accommodate 120 people. There are five lifting platforms in the stage. There is a large musical instrument lifting platform in the front of the stage and a chorus area for 80 people behind the stage.
The design of the audience seats in the concert hall is very humanized, so that the audience can clearly see the performance of the actors on the stage when they sit in any position. The design of the seats is also very special. The material texture can not only absorb sound, but also have vents under each seat, so as to adjust the temperature and ensure that each audience can fully enjoy the first-class performance environment.
Performance activities
Since the reopening of the concert hall on August 28, 2009, many well-known international and domestic troupes and artists have come to perform, including Tang Muhai, Yu Long, Wang Jian, Yin Chengzong, Ding Yi, yuan chenye, Li Guangxi, Sheng Zhonghua, Cai Dan Zhuoma, Pu Cunxin, Xiao Xiong, Ding Jianhua, Mei Ting, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, Columbia National Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Orchestras, Haydn Quartet, giacomeni and others have come to perform here and achieved great success.
Founded in 1922, Tianjin Concert Hall has both historical and cultural heritage, and is a landmark building in Tianjin. At the end of 2014, through the negotiation between the Municipal Bureau of culture and broadcasting and Tianjin Northern film group, Tianjin Concert Hall was leased to Tianjin Symphony Orchestra as a performance position to create elegant art.
2015 coincides with the 30th anniversary of the founding of Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, and also the first year of the "Tianjin Cultural Huimin card". Xiao Jiaxi, head of Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, introduced the past performances of Tianjin Symphony Orchestra
