historical origin
The three temples in Tianzhu have similar history, close regions, the same religious views, and common prosperity and decline. They are known as "Tianzhu Buddhist kingdom" in history. Lingyin and Tianzhu peaks are collectively known as "Wulin mountain". According to the geography annals of the Han Dynasty, "there are Wulin mountains in the Qian and Tang Dynasties, and Wulin water comes from them." "Lingshan Zhi" said: "in Song Dynasty, the land was fixed, with the south of Feilai peak as Tianzhu, and the north of Feilai peak as Lingyin. Because the northern foot of the mountain is lingjiu temple, the peak has a different name. " Lingzhu Buddhist culture has been handed down through the ages along with the history of Hangzhou.
The spread of Buddhism and the construction of temples in Hangzhou are all related to the West Indian monk Huili. According to the records of Tianzhu Mountain: "in the early Xianhe period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Huili came to Lingyin zhuoxi and ascended the Wulin Police Day:" this is the small ridge of lingjiu mountain in the middle of Tianzhu. When did he fly here? "Thus, the mountain was named" Tianzhu "and the peak was called" Feilai "; later generations called the temples built in Fengnan" Tianzhu Temple ", which were divided into three parts: upper, middle and lower Zhu. Up to now, there are Ligong rock and Ligong tower at the entrance of Longhong cave, and Huili ashes are buried in the tower. In ancient times, there were many apes and monkeys between Lingshan and Zhushan. There was a "huape cave" on the peak, which is said to be the place where Huili kept apes. During the Liu Song period (420-479) of the Southern Dynasty, Zen master Zhiyi, the abbot of Lingyin Temple, also raised apes in the mountains. He was known as "father of apes" for his ability to attract apes. Ancient poets also had such verses as "gathering apes and birds with rice", "apes disturbing the bell" and "apes singing the song of pine nuts falling". "Cold spring ape roaring" has become one of the ten ancient Qiantang scenic spots.
Temple Landscape
Tianzhu three temples are deep in the forest valley. From bottom to top, the temples are magnificent, the scenery is quiet, the eminent monks come forth in large numbers, and Buddhism and poetry are flourishing. According to Hushan shengqucheng, "from Yuegui peak to the Buddhist mountain, from Xiazhu, through Zhongzhu, to Shangzhu, Shangzhu is the inspiration of Guanyin.". In Xiazhu, the historical sites are the best. Among the three Zhus, there are clouds and sky lights, springs and pines, the island is quiet, the fragrance is still, and the meeting of the ears, eyes and minds is very bright. Is it beyond the three realms? " "Old stories of Wulin" also says: "the three temples go to Lixu, they are all magnificent, morning bell and evening drum, they work with each other, the eminent monks and disciples, they gather together in the Buddhist skin, the real Buddhist kingdom." From Tianzhu to Longjing in the East, langdangling in the south, Wuyun mountain in the left and Meijiawu in the lower. Tianzhu, Zhong lingyuxiu, Shanlan Yunying, Buddhist teaching concept, has a long history. Huili, Baozhang and Daoyi were the three founders of Tianzhu.
