Historical evolution
History and culture
As early as 5000 years ago in the Neolithic age, there were ancestors living in Daxie. Daxie belonged to the state of Yue in the spring and Autumn period, to the east of jurhang County in the Qin Dynasty, to Yinzhou County in the Tang Dynasty, and to Haiyan township of Yinxian County in Fengguo army of Mingzhou in the early Song Dynasty. From the Song Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty, Daxie Island and its surrounding islands were always established as village level system, which was administratively under the jurisdiction of Dinghai county (Zhenhai county). In 1688, it was under the jurisdiction of Dinghai county (Zhoushan City). Daxie is composed of 13 islands, including the main island, changyaojian Island, Chuanbi Island, waishenma island and tunimen island. There is a main peak in the middle of the island, which was called "Da Ruo mountain" in ancient times (Qian Dao's Siming Tu Jing), called "Da Ruo mountain" in Yanyou's Siming Zhi, and later called "Daxie". The island covers an area of 30.84 square kilometers, with a total coastline of 26.14 kilometers. There are more than 40000 permanent residents on the island. There is also a local folk legend that "Eighteen golden sparrows" once flew to Daxie Island to recruit treasures for the island.
Construction of road head
Since the beginning of last century, in order to survive, people living on this island have built a road for material exchange with the outside world. Road head, as the name suggests, is the beginning or end of the road. In fact, Daotou in Daxie people is a synonym for quay or wharf. Daotou is the most important platform for island residents to communicate with the outside world. Daxie has nearly 20 seaside Daotou, such as Dongao Daotou, guanwaidaotou and Beidu Daotou. The road head of Daxie is generally built on the beach which is narrow and short and has a gate beside it. Its advantages are convenient for people to get in and out, convenient for ships to navigate and not easy to deposit. During the construction of the road head, a river about 3 meters deep and wide, called Pu, was dug out on the selected mud. The excavated mud was piled to one side to form a low mud road. Then a pine stump was driven at the junction of Tu Hai and Pu on the side of the mud road. Finally, a strip of stone about 2 meters long, 40 cm wide and 30 cm thick was paved on the mud road.
In Daxie, the road is more than 100 meters long and dozens of meters short. With the rise and fall of the tide, single canopies and hand-held boats enter Puzhong and dock at the appropriate position at the end of the road. Sometimes, in the spring of the 8th and 23rd day of the lunar calendar, we have to park at the end of the road, that is, the junction of Tuhai. At that time, it was very inconvenient and sometimes dangerous to get on and off the ship. On the other hand, during the first and the fifteenth day of the lunar new year, when the tide rises, the ships can go up along the Pu River to the daotoushi beside the seawall, so they can easily get on and get off.
Business contacts
In the last century, trade between Daxie and Zhoushan was very frequent, because Daxie is located on the edge of the mainland, agriculture is relatively developed, and Zhoushan is located in the East China Sea, rich in fishery resources, the two places are particularly complementary economically. Therefore, a maritime "ancient trade road" with a long history of exchanges has naturally formed.
Before the 1970s, every July to September, the vast sea of Zhoushan was in Shanghai. In the 30 years before and after the 1950s, every time the early rice was harvested, Daxie people were reluctant to burn straw as firewood. At night and rainy days, men, women, young and old went to battle together and twisted straw into rope to tie fish. Every household is full of "wordy" rope rubbing sound. Rope processing plants cover thousands of households. Big fishing boats are used to load rope every day at Toutou, Beidu, guanwai and chuanbie small docks. The nearer one sails to Shenjiamen and Daishan, and the farther one sails to Huanglong, Sijiao and other Zhoushan Islands for fishermen.
Planting radish
In the 1950s and 1960s, people on Daxie Island used barren hills and slopes to grow economic crops radish. The radish varieties planted by Daxie people are long small radish with thin white skin and tender meat. In the rice field after the early rice harvest, the farmers ploughed and exposed to the sun in time to promote its weathering, and sowed before and after September 1. In winter, pull out a load of radishes, wash them, cut them into uniform triangular strips longitudinally with a knife, and dry them in the cold wind on the ventilating utensil woven with bamboo strips tilted against the wind.
Daxie is located on the coast of the East China Sea. The sea breeze is strong, and the water of radish strips evaporates a lot. When every 100 Jin fresh radish strips are dried by the wind into 15-16 Jin dried radish strips, they are sent to the basket. Take them to the side of the VAT, sprinkle half a bowl of salt on the bottom of the VAT, and then pour in a basket of dried radish strips (about 60 Jin), sprinkle a bowl full of salt (about 1 jin), and use the washed feet, Such a layer of dried radish slices, a layer of salt, until the VAT full. The next day, we took out all the practical dried radish slices. At that time, the white dried radish slices turned into jade white, with a pungent taste. Put the basket filled with dried radish which was taken out early on at the edge of the VAT, and the dried radish which was taken out at the bottom of the VAT was at the end of the row. Still, a basket of dried radish (about 100 Jin at that time) and a flat bowl of salt (about 8 Liang) were put on the bottom of the VAT layer by layer, and then step on it firmly, and repeat it in 3-4 days. By that time, the dried radish had turned a little pale yellow. If you want to store it in the dog days, you need to step on it again in ten days. At that time, the dried radish is yellow with red color. If you dig out a handful of them, they will smell delicious and taste them. They are moderately salty and sweet. As long as they are stacked firmly and sealed with salt, they will not go bad in dog days, no matter they are put in large tanks or small pots. The pickled radish dried by the people on the island is fragrant, mellow and refreshing. Daxie radish dried once sold well all over the country, and is as famous as Xiaoshan radish dried in the province.
Island Development Zone
Daxie Development Zone, founded in March 1993, is developed by CITIC, enjoying the policy of national economic and Technological Development Zone. The development zone is located in the east of Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, 40 kilometers away from the center of Ningbo. The development zone includes Daxie Island and 13 surrounding islands, with a planning area of about 36 square kilometers, of which Daxie Island covers an area of 30.84 square kilometers.
The development zone has 26 kilometers of coastline, including 10.7 kilometers of deep water coastline and less than 100 meters of 20-30 meters of isobath offshore. It has unique port construction conditions and excellent resource endowment for the development of port industry and port transportation industry. The development zone plans to build 49 berths of various types with a designed throughput capacity of 130 million tons. 25 berths of various types have been built, and the cargo throughput of the port reached 33.36 million tons in 2006.
