appearance
Covering an area of more than 7600 square meters, the Spanish National Pavilion is one of the largest self built pavilions in Shanghai World Expo. The scale of the exhibition has also set a new record for Spain to participate in the World Expo. The whole building uses rattan boards woven from natural rattan as the facade. The overall shape is wavy and looks like a basket. 8524 rattan boards are of different colors, covering an area of 12000 square meters. Each rattan board is of different colors. They will create Chinese characters such as "day", "month" and "friend" in a slightly abstract way to express the designer's understanding of Chinese culture.

Under the explanation of the famous Spanish director Biggs Luna, the first part of the Spanish Pavilion "origin" shows its panorama. Visitors feel as if they are in a "cave" with a little "starlight" on their heads. Audio visual equipment hits the image on the "cliff". With the surging ocean and ancient fossils, flamenco dancers come dancing in the exciting drums, and dancers in original costumes will "dance out" from the screen. Then, the crowd waving the red cloth will bring the visitors to the scene of the bull Festival and experience a boiling carnival. NBA player Gasol and tennis player Nadal will also appear to "get in close contact" with the tourists.
In the melody of master Peter's puppet show, Basilio Martin Patino, the designer of the second exhibition hall "city", will show the changes of Spanish cities from modern times to modern times in a unique kaleidoscope way.
In the "children" of the third exhibition hall, Isabel kuishete will imagine the future life from the perspective of the "children of the Spanish National Pavilion" - the mascot "Miglin". She has become the "Star Baby" of the Shanghai World Expo, and together with the tourists, she will imagine the city of tomorrow. Spain Pavilion is composed of three spaces: "from nature to city", "from our parents' city to the present", "from our present city to our next generation's city". From barbarism and civilization in ancient times to changes in the present, and then to imagination of the future. The Spanish Pavilion has a Spanish restaurant which can accommodate 300 people at the same time, providing the most authentic Spanish food. Souvenir shop, multi-function theater and business center are also important parts of the exhibition hall. Rich cultural and artistic programs are also the focus of the Spanish Pavilion. During the Expo, the Spanish Pavilion will bring the most famous Spanish artists to Shanghai, including opera, flamenco, dance, music and so on, to show a real Spain.
Exhibition highlights
Rattan external wall
Rattan board is fixed obliquely with steel wire and arranged like fish scales, which is firm and beautiful. These rattan boards of different depths were made in Shandong, Confucius' hometown. Without any dyeing, the rattan can turn brown when boiled in boiling water for 5 hours, and nearly black when boiled for 9 hours. This is the "secret" of the different colors of these rattan boards.
