Qidu Town, belonging to Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located at the southwest end of Wujiang District, Suzhou city. In ancient times, it was called "Wutou Yuewei". It is adjacent to Shanghai Jiangsu Zhejiang Expressway and national highway 318 in the South and suzhentao first-class highway in the West. Historical evolution
According to the annals of Wujiang County written by Hongzhi of Ming Dynasty, the seven capitals are the names of ancient administrative regions, which have been used since Song Dynasty (today's seven capitals are actually the ancient six capitals and seven capitals).
The old six capitals and seven capitals are adjacent to each other. According to Wu Jiangzhi of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty, the area under the jurisdiction of Qidu is in the south of jiwuyang (jinyuyang) and tianzhiqiaogang in today's Qidu Town, bordering Zhejiang in the East, South and West. The area under the jurisdiction of Liudu is in the west of wujietinggang in today's Miaogang Town, in the north of jinyuyang and tianzhiqiaogang, in the west of hulou in Zhejiang, and in the north of Taihu Lake.
According to Guangxu's Wucheng county annals, "in the third year of the Taiping reign of the Song Dynasty (978 AD), the fourteen districts of Wucheng county (now Huzhou City) are adjacent to qiduyindu village and Wulou village in the East.". It is confirmed that the seven capitals were established in Song Dynasty.
According to Qianlong's Zhenze county annals, in the sixth year of Tianshun (AD 1462) of the Ming Dynasty, the political system was reformed. There were townships under the county, capitals under the township, and Tu and Li under the capital. All seven were under the jurisdiction of Zhenze township.
In 1726 ad, Wujiang county was divided into two counties, Wujiang and Zhenze.
In 1910, the town of Wuliu was established, changbang and banbang were under the jurisdiction of Badu, and the village of Rulin and Yegang, the old six capitals, were under the jurisdiction of Wuliu. It belongs to Zhenze county.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912 AD), Zhenze county and Wujiang county were merged, still named Wujiang County, and the system of city and township was established. Wulou was a town with seven capitals.

In August 1929, Wujiang county was divided into 10 districts. The former Rulin Township and Qidu Township were divided into 9 townships, namely, dahuagang Township, jiangjiagang Township, zhangyegang Township, Yindu Township, Shenjiawan Township, lingdangwan Township, fangjiaqiao Township, qiaoxia Township and hezhedou township.
In August of 1929, Wulou was restored as a town. The former seven districts are divided into nine small townships, belonging to the Tenth District of Wujiang county.
In August 1934, Wujiang Autonomous County merged 10 districts into 8 districts. Wulou Town, under the jurisdiction of the Fifth District, district office is located in Zhenze.
In 1942, Wulou town was changed into Wulou township.
In February 1948, loudu, shangeng and Fanghong merged to form Qidu Township, which governs the old land of the three townships.
In 1946, the villages and towns of Wujiang county were merged, the whole county was reorganized, Wulou township was removed, and loudu Township, shangeng Township and Fanghong Township were built.
In February 1948, Qidu township was restored, which was under the jurisdiction of Zhenze district.

In March 1956, the districts and townships were merged, and Wulou Township, Qidu Township, lingdang Township and Fangqiao Township were merged into Qidu Township again. Withdraw Damiao district and merge it into Zhenze district. Qidu township is under the jurisdiction of Zhenze district.
In August 1957, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. In addition to the original jurisdiction of Qidu Township, two administrative villages, Shenjiawan village and Xingjun village, were set aside from Wulou township to be under the jurisdiction of Qidu township.
In September 1958, the government and society were integrated and the Qidu people's commune was established. Daru township is also included in Qidu people's commune. The commune is located in Wulou market town.
In July 1983, the people's commune was transformed into a joint economic committee, and the system of Qidu township was restored. The township government was still located in Wulou town. The former Guangming brigade was divided into Yegang and randianbang administrative villages; the former Shengqi brigade was divided into niujiadou and shuangdangdou administrative villages; and fishing villages and fishing villages were added (the fishermen who settled on land in the township were named fishing villages; in December 1983, Wudu village was established) The rocket brigade of Taihu County commune was assigned to Qidu Township, named fishing village. The township has jurisdiction over 28 administrative villages.
On December 8, 1992, the township was removed to build a town and Qidu Town was established. Qidu Town is scattered from north to South with a depth of 8.4 km. The terrain of Qidu Town is low and flat. The ground elevation is 3.1-3.7 meters of Wusong base. General situation of hydrology
Qidu Town is also a water network area, with water area of 19317.3 mu, accounting for 28.43% of the total area. However, the river barrier affects the land transportation. Such as Qiutian, nijiadun, huangyangdun and other natural villages surrounded by water on three sides, forming an inland peninsula. To the north of taihutang road in Qidu Town, there used to be a large area of high-rise dry land, about four or five li wide and about one or two Li narrow. Due to years of erosion by the wind and waves in Taihu Lake, the dry land area gradually shrinks to the south, with only 74 meters in the wide part and only 4-5 meters in the narrow part.
There are six major rivers and more than ten tributaries in Qidu Town. In the east-west direction, there are henggutang River, Zhongtang River and Beitang River, and in the north-south direction, there are jiangjiagang, Yegang and Wulou port, interwoven vertically and horizontally, cutting the whole territory of Qidu into 12 pieces of land of different sizes. Three East-West rivers gather the water of Tiaoxi and flow into the Beijing Hangzhou canal through gulutang port. The three north-south lougang are connected to Taihu Lake, and the water flows into jiwuyang, which plays a role in regulating the water level of inland river.
