KEKETUOHAI scenic spot and KEKETUOHAI National Geopark is located in Fuyun County, Altay area, Northern Xinjiang. The scenic spot is mainly composed of the karasagar earthquake fault zone, kekesuli, yileimu lake and Erqis Grand Canyon. It integrates the beautiful river source scenery of the canyon, swamp wetland landscape, cold lake, geological and mineral resources and other natural scenery. It integrates the grassland nomadic culture, the folk customs of the western regions, regional characteristics and folk customs and other human landscapes. The scenic spot is composed of four parts: Erqis Grand Canyon, kekesuli, iremut lake and karaxianger earthquake fault zone. It is a large-scale scenic spot with beautiful canyons and rivers, rocks and woodlands, mineral resources, cold lakes and strange earthquake fault zone as its natural scenery, integrating geological culture, regional characteristics and ethnic customs, and taking sightseeing, leisure, special tourism (hiking, photography, etc.) and scientific research as its main characteristics.

In 2012, KEKETUOHAI scenic spot was promoted to national 5A scenic spot.

Historical evolution

KEKETUOHAI mining area was discovered in 1930. At that time, only the local minorities mined the outcrop part of No. 3 vein, and the products were used as jewelry decoration materials.

In 1935, two geological units of the former Soviet government came to Altay. After many geological explorations, beryl and tantalum niobium iron ore were mined in KEKETUOHAI mining area with No.3 vein as the main ore vein.

On March 1, 1950, Ashan Mine Management Office of Sino Soviet nonferrous and Rare Metals Co., Ltd. was established.

On January 1, 1955, all enterprises in the mining area were transferred to China for independent operation. The original Ashan mine management office was renamed as KEKETUOHAI Mine Management Office of Xinjiang nonferrous metals company, General Administration of nonferrous metals of the Ministry of metallurgical industry, and directly under the central management.

In 1958, it was renamed KEKETUOHAI Mining Bureau.

In 2005, KEKETUOHAI scenic spot was officially approved as a national geopark by the Ministry of land and resources.

On July 15, 2008, KEKETUOHAI National Geopark officially opened.

In 2009, it was rated as a 4A scenic spot by the quality rating committee of National Tourism Administration.

In early 2010, it was awarded the honorary title of "Ten Excellent A-level tourist attractions in Xinjiang" by the Tourism Administration of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and the honorary title of "international original ecological tourist attractions" by the United Nations Association for the promotion of tourism economy, China Marketing Association and China Tourism Brand Association.

In 2010, Fuyun county invested 36.78 million yuan to improve the infrastructure of KEKETUOHAI comprehensive Reception Center Hotel and simple restaurant, Zhongshan to hot spring road, scenic spot signboard, scenic spot ticket checking system and environmental protection ecological toilet, scenic spot fast food service center and Geological Museum, hot spring physiotherapy center, etc.

On May 19, 2012, KEKETUOHAI scenic spot was promoted to the national 5A scenic spot.

In 2013, Fuyun county invested 40 million yuan in the development and construction of service facilities such as bars with ethnic characteristics, open self-service catering area, river crossing sightseeing suspension bridge, tourist souvenirs, strange stones, gem shops, outdoor amusement facilities, etc.

Hoketuohai is a typical continental cold warm arid climate with cold winter and cool summer. There is little rain in summer, long sunshine, and mostly snow in winter. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of minus 37 ℃ and an extreme minimum temperature of minus 51.5 ℃ (January 1961); the hottest month is July, with an average temperature of 25 ℃ and an extreme maximum temperature of 37 ℃. Its extreme minimum temperature (minus 51.5 ℃) is second only to Mohe County in Heilongjiang Province (minus 52.3 ℃), which is known as the second coldest pole in China. The average annual precipitation is 250mm, the average annual wind speed is 1.4m/s, and the annual dominant wind direction is northwest wind. The depth of frozen soil is 2.2m and the frost free period is 120 days.

As of 2013, there are more than 80 kinds of minerals in the cocotohai sea, mainly including lithium, beryllium, niobium, tantalum, rubidium, cesium and other rare metals, of which beryllium ranks first in the world. Gemstones such as emerald, aquamarine and emerald, amethyst, furonite, garnet, tourmaline, etc. are produced in granite pegmatite.

Biological resources

As of 2013, there are more than 100 kinds of rare wild animals in KEKETUOHAI, including brown bear, wild donkey, beaver, snow leopard, Saiga antelope, etc.; there are dozens of wild plants, such as wild lavender, Lonicera microphylla, Spiraea, Siberian juniper, lichens and mosses, Coptis chinensis, Paeonia lactiflora, Codonopsis pilosula, angelica altaica, etc.
