Development history
Guided by the scientific outlook on development, the Shanghai Railway Museum takes historical materials and objects as the main carrier to show the history of Shanghai and East China Railway in the past 100 years since the railway entered China in the 1860s and 1970s, highlighting the changes and development of railway productivity. The museum is divided into six parts, with more than 50 exhibition items and nearly 1000 exhibits. In the process of building the museum, Shanghai Railway Administration has been highly praised by the leaders of the Ministry of Railways and Shanghai Municipality
It is believed that in the years to come, Shanghai Railway Museum will be more perfect and make positive contributions to the development of Shanghai and Railway Cultural and Museum undertakings while better serving enterprises and society.
The whole museum includes an outdoor square exhibition area of about 1300 square meters and a main building of more than 3000 square meters. There are four floors in the main building of the museum. The exhibition area on the ground floor with an area of about 1000 square meters is open. The exhibits are mainly pictures, historical documents and objects.
The overall layout of Shanghai Railway Museum has a strong historical atmosphere of railway past: the outdoor square exhibition area creates a scene of an early railway station, and the bulky steam locomotive and wooden platform canopy are full of vicissitudes of time.
