Yunxiang Temple
Yunxiang temple was first built in the fourth year of Liang Tianjian (AD 505) and was initially named "Baihe Nanxiang Temple". It reached its peak in the Tang Dynasty, and the temple base expanded to 180 mu. In the Song Dynasty, the name of Nanxiang temple was given by Zhao Yun, the emperor of Li. In 1700 ad, Emperor Kangxi granted "Yunxiang Temple", so it was renamed Yunxiang temple. Later, due to natural and man-made disasters, the temple was completely destroyed. There is only one pair of twin towers that can witness the history, and the Tang Shijing tower and song Pu tower scattered in Guyi garden.
If the Yunxiang temple in history was once famous in the south of the Yangtze River, then the restored Yunxiang temple is famous in Shanghai and overseas for its brand-new appearance. The rebuilt Yunxiang temple is also known as Liuyun temple, whose name comes from Liuyun temple in the southern urban area of Shanghai. The temple covers an area of 15 mu, with a large scale, reasonable and rigorous layout. It is divided into three courtyards. The main halls are arranged on the central axis: Mountain Gate, Guanyin hall, Daxiong hall and Sutra collection building. The Jialan hall, dashizhi hall, bell tower, Drum Tower, Manjusri Hall, Puxian hall, shanghakka hall and sengliao hall are symmetrically arranged on the left and right sides, surrounded by complete corridors. In addition, Gongde hall and Wanfo hall are built underground.
