Baling square

Baling square, with a total investment of 210 million yuan, is located at the west end of Baling Road, the main road in the central city of Yueyang. It is adjacent to Dongting Lake in the west, Yueyang Tower core scenic spot of phase II project along the lake in the north, and Yuxiangzi business district in the South.

The east-west axis of the square is 280.1 meters long, with a total land area of about 48400 square meters. "Houyi beheads Ba snake", a sculpture about 16 meters high and 2000 tons net weight, explains the origin of the name "baling" in Yueyang City with myths and legends. It was designed and produced by the Central Academy of fine arts. Its main body reflects the myth and legend of the origin of baling, that is, Houyi chopped the Ba snake. ）The square can hold 3800 people. The central square is surrounded by sparse forest and grassland. The square is basically symmetrical, highlighting the historical development axis of the city in the east-west direction. The square is divided into two levels and gradually decreases to the west, with a slope of 1.2%. The middle section of the lakeside landscape area is a hard landscape area, mainly steps. From the square to the first level platform is baling big steps, with an elevation difference of about 9 meters, which is convenient for citizens and tourists to watch the lake and enjoy the scenery. The steps of the first level platform extending to the lake are designed to be grand and spectacular, highlighting the hydrophilicity; the north and South sections are the fish culture landscape area and the green belt along the lake, fully displaying the fishery production scene of Dongting Lake through architectural sketches.
