Around 1901, the Ba brothers bought a large piece of land in Hankou Russian concession, covering the east-west direction from Liangyi Street (today's Dongting Street) to luojiabei Road (today's LUOJIASHAN Street), and the north-south direction from lierbin Street (today's Lanling Road) to today's Lihuangpi road. In the triangle between Lihuangpi road and Lanling road where Liangyi street and Sanjiao Street (today's Poyang Street) meet, an isosceles triangle house was built. It was built in 1901 and completed in 1910. This is what people call Bagong house. The completed Bagong house has become a landmark building in the Russian concession.
Bagong house
The owners of Bagong house are the relatives of Russian Czar Nicholas I, the brothers of "big Bagong" J.K. banov and "little Bagong" Zino banov.
Dabagong was a Russian nobleman and a relative of the czar. He came to Hankou in 1869 and was soon employed as a senior class by Xintai foreign company. In 1874, banov, together with other influential British and Russian people in Hankou, set up Fuchang foreign company. Banov became the joint manager of the foreign company. When the Russian concession was opened up in 1896, banov was elected as the managing director of the Municipal Council of the Russian concession.
Build master
Before 1902, he even served as the consul of Russia in Hankou. Among the four major tea factories in the Russian concession, Fuchang was later than Shunfeng, but its business scale was larger than that of Shunfeng. He lived in Hankou for 52 years (1869-1921). In 1890, Zeno banov designed a steam pressure tea machine for Fuchang brick tea factory, which changed manual operation to mechanical operation, greatly improving the efficiency of tea processing, and later was followed by major tea factories.
"Dabagong" is a well-known "China expert", who speaks fluent Chinese and communicates with Chinese people in person. At the same time, he brought in Russian engineers and technicians from Northeast China to work in Fuchang. The "little Bagong" Zino banov came to China as an engineer and worked in Fuchang tea factory in Hankou.
At that time, Fuchang produced hundreds of thousands of boxes of brick tea annually, which was sold to Siberia, Xinjiang, Mongolia and the European continent of Russia. The head office is located in Hankou, and the branches are located in Shanghai, Tianjin, Jiujiang, Fuzhou, today's Sri Lanka, Vladivostok, Odessa, St. Petersburg, and chaktu, forming a huge marketing network. In order to facilitate water transportation, a warehouse and barges along the river were built at the third Wharf (now Hankou 19 wharf) in the British concession.
In 1917, the October Revolution in Russia ended the Czar's rule. The tea trade between China and Russia was restrained and gradually shrunk. In 1917, Shunfeng and Fuchang brick tea factories were first closed down. After struggling for some years, Xintai brick tea factory was sublet to British merchants in 1932 and renamed Pacific brick tea by British merchants.
House introduction
