Shimenkan

Shimenkan is known as "the west of the west, the remote". It is still very poor, and the houses in the village are still primitive thatched roofs.

In 1905, an English missionary named bergley came here and brought Christianity and advanced western ideas to Shimenkan. With the western education embedded in Christianity, Shimenkan became a cultural pioneer: he pioneered Miao culture, created bilingual teaching and coeducation in China, built the first swimming pool, football field and Western medicine hospital in Southwest China, and built Southwest China The first junior middle school in Miao has hundreds of famous people teaching here, and cultivated the first doctoral student in the history of Miao nationality Later, Gao Zhihua, Yi Lifan, Mu Boli, Shi Chongde, Shao Taiqing, Zhang Jiqiao and others successively preached here.

Shimenkan is the most remote sukezhai, where the original old church is preserved. The first doctor of Miao nationality also came from here. The church is actually very simple, and its function can only be identified from the cross painted on the white wall outside. Every Wednesday night, the whole village uses Miao Yu to read the Bible, sing scriptures and worship here.

Inside the government compound of Shimen township government is the pastor building built by Gao Zhihua. There are living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, cloakrooms, bathrooms, and fireplaces with Western characteristics.

Today, on the top of the mountain of Shimen township government, you can still see the tomb of bogli and Gao Zhihua. In addition, you can see the football field, swimming pool and the former site of Guanghua primary school.
