West Village
Xicun (x ī C ū n) originally belonged to 27 villages of enzhoubao, Nanhai county. Because it is located in the west of the city, it is collectively referred to as Xicun. Later, it was transferred to Liwan District of Guangzhou. It is composed of Xichang, Xixi, Zengbu, dagangyuan and Heishan. Located in today's Fortune Plaza and Lingnan Bay, it used to be a cement plant. This cement plant was the Guangzhou cement plant at that time. Due to the serious air pollution to the surrounding area, Guangzhou cement plant was once a cement plant. At that time, once the cement plant worked, it would float out of the chimney, which could be regarded as unfiltered lime. Overnight, the glass of the surrounding residents' houses was covered with a thick layer of ash. The complaints of residents in the West Village were getting louder and louder. The cement plant had a great impact on the rapid development of Guangzhou. The West Village, a suburb, was gradually surrounded by the urban area. Therefore, Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau decided to move immediately after the completion of the new Guangzhou cement plant (Shijing cement plant) in 2005. In 2011, Fortune Plaza and Lingnan Bay building were built in the former site of Guangzhou cement plant.
