A brief introduction to the monument
On the monument, a soldier of Sichuan army, dressed in shorts and leggings, with a big hat and a knife on his back and a rifle in his hand, hangs two grenades on his chest and looks ahead like a soldier about to charge. The soldier is modeled on Zhang langxuan, commander of the 3rd Battalion of 745 regiment, 373 brigade, 125th division, the 22nd group army of Deng xihou Department of Sichuan army.
Monument history
In 1944, Chengdu cultural circles and social organizations set up the "statue Preparatory Committee" and invited the famous sculptor Mr. Liu Kaiqu to create the "memorial of Sichuan army's Anti Japanese soldiers". On July 7 of the same year, the monument was erected in the gate of the old east gate of Chengdu;
In 1965, the monument was demolished for traffic construction;
On August 15, 1989, Chengdu Municipal People's Government rebuilt the monument at the second ring road of wannianchang;
In 2006, Chengdu's second ring road was rebuilt, and the "unknown hero" moved to the people's Park;
On August 15, 2007, the monument stands in front of the east gate of Chengdu people's Park.
