Changzhi City Museum is located in Taihang West Street, Changzhi City. The construction of the new museum started in September 1990 and was completed in October 1992. It covers an area of 13340 square meters and has a construction area of 8200 square meters. Mr. Zhao Puchu, chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association, inscribed the name of the museum. Facing south, the museum is divided into office building, cultural relics exhibition building, ancient tomb exhibition hall, etc. At the top of the cultural relics exhibition building, there is a 6-meter-long, 2.5-meter-high, 7.5-ton bronze chariot and horse imitating the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period. There are more than 60000 cultural relics in the collection, including bronzes, ceramics, jade, calligraphy and painting, stone carvings, gold and silver, and more than 1200 precious cultural relics. They have been selected to participate in cultural relics exhibitions in Italy, the United States, Japan and other places. The cultural relics in the collection include Ming and Qing glazed wares unearthed in Shangdang area, bronze wares of spring and Autumn period and Warring States period unearthed in Changzhi watershed, and song and Jin porcelain unearthed in northern Cizhou kiln system.

There are six exhibition halls in the museum, with an area of 5200 square meters. There is a basic display of "Shangdang from Tianxia ridge - Changzhi Ancient Civilization Exhibition", which is divided into five units: stone, jade, bronze, pottery and porcelain. There are 320 cultural relics from the Lower Paleolithic age to the Qing Dynasty on display; there is a special display of "Changzhi ancient tombs", in which 14 original tombs and funerary objects from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty are displayed In addition, more than 40 large-scale exhibitions including "Changzhi historical relics exhibition" and "Shangdang celebrity calligraphy and painting exhibition" were held.
Organization setup
There are 11 offices in the Museum: office, Kao Gu, cultural relics research, group engineering, exhibition, Gu Jianke, etc., under the jurisdiction of Town God's Temple Heritage Management Office, Yan Emperor memorial hall, Guanyin hall heritage management unit three units. Since its establishment, the museum has published the historical celebrities of Shangdang, the chronicle of Changzhi cultural relics, the general catalogue of Shanxi stone carvings, Changzhi volume, the light of Shangdang civilization, etc. He has published more than 80 scientific research papers and art works in national newspapers and periodicals, and more than 50 articles and works in provincial newspapers and periodicals. In 1995, it was announced as a provincial patriotic education base by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government.
