The capital museum is divided into two exhibition areas, East and West. The East exhibition area is a circular exhibition area. Capital Museum
Capital museum is located at No.16, Fuxingmenwai street, on the west side of Baiyun road and on the West extension of Chang'an Street in Beijing. The museum, which integrates collection, exhibition, research, archaeology, public education and cultural exchange, is a large-scale comprehensive museum in Beijing and a provincial and municipal comprehensive museum in China.
By the end of 2015, the Capital Museum has a total construction area of 63390 square meters, with 5622 permanent exhibition collections. The exhibition hall has five floors above ground and two floors below ground.

Historical evolution
In 1953, the capital museum began to prepare. The site of the museum is located in the Confucius Temple on Guozijian street.
In October 1981, the capital museum was officially opened to the public.
In 1999, in order to accommodate more collections and serve more visitors, as a key cultural construction project in Beijing during the 10th Five Year Plan period, the capital museum applied for a new construction project, which was approved by Beijing municipal government this year.
In December 2001, the new capital museum was officially built.
On May 18, 2006, the new capital museum officially opened.
On May 24, 2007, the capital museum was awarded the title of advanced collective of national cultural relics system by the Ministry of personnel and the State Administration of cultural relics of the people's Republic of China.
architectural composition
The New Capital Museum covers an area of 24800 square meters, with a total construction area of 63390 square meters. It is divided into two underground floors and five above ground floors. The green cultural square is designed in the north and the sunken bamboo courtyard is designed in the East. The building (above ground) is 152 meters long from east to west, 66 meters wide from north to south, and 41 meters high. The building shape is mainly composed of rectangular enclosure structure, oval facade and metal roof. The interior of the building is divided into three independent buildings, namely: rectangular exhibition hall, oval theme exhibition hall and strip office and scientific research building. The space between them is the central hall and the bamboo courtyard.

Millennium treasure exhibition
The Millennium treasure exhibition is located in hall L on the sixth floor of the circular exhibition hall. In order to show the profound Buddhist cultural heritage, unique Buddhist cultural features, and the development level of architecture, sculpture and various crafts in the ancient capital of Beijing, part of the pagoda cultural relics of ancient Beijing are selected for exhibition.
Ancient porcelain exhibition
The exhibition of ancient porcelain is located in hall E2 on the fourth floor of the square exhibition hall. It displays the porcelain unearthed and handed down from the historical period of Beijing as the capital city
From Song Dynasty, Liao Jin Dynasty to Ming and Qing Dynasties, porcelain was unearthed from sites, tombs and hoards in Beijing. The exhibition is divided into four parts with 170 cultural relics.
Ancient Buddha Exhibition
The ancient Buddha statue exhibition is located in hall E1 on the fourth floor of the square exhibition hall. The exhibition is divided into Han Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism, with 262 statues on display.
Ancient jade exhibition
The ancient jade exhibition is located in hall K on the fifth floor of the circular exhibition hall. The exhibition is divided into three parts, displaying 181 components of cultural relics. Among the exhibits are a large number of jades unearthed from the tombs of princes and nobles, as well as jades with the emperor's model year and engraved with imperial poems. A "list of main jades in ancient China" and a schematic diagram of the use of some jades are set up. The design is divided into static exhibition area and dynamic exhibition area.
Yandi bronze Exhibition
Yandi bronze exhibition is located in hall J on the fourth floor of the circular exhibition hall. The exhibition focuses on the comparison of bronzes between the Central Plains culture and the northern grassland culture and the Western Zhou Dynasty
Compared with the bronzes of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, a square city with rammed earth layer is designed in the center of the exhibition hall, which symbolizes Fangshan Liulihe, the capital of Yan state in the Western Zhou Dynasty. The inner and outer walls of the city wall and the Exhibition cabinets on the four walls of the exhibition hall form three concentric exhibition lines. The exhibits of the Western Zhou Dynasty are located in the center of the exhibition hall, while the exhibits of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty are located in the ring-shaped display cabinet on the four walls of the exhibition hall. The exhibits of the two weeks are placed in the order of weapons, ritual musical instruments and miscellaneous weapons, realizing the comparison of the two bronze cultures.

Contract documents of Qing Dynasty in capital museum collection (eight volumes) is one of the compilation projects of Qing Dynasty history. It contains more than 4000 sets of contract documents of Qing Dynasty in capital museum. It was published in the form of photocopies. The compilation period is from 1684 to 1911. The contents focus on land sales, leasing, donation and other economic activities, including the capital and some provinces in China in the late agricultural civilization Most of the reliable information about social and economic relations was made public for the first time, which is of great historical value in reconstructing the social and economic history of the Qing Dynasty.
