Erlonghou Park

Erlonghou park is one of the largest parks in Macao, which is located on the main road of stonecutters. The former erlonghou palace was the official residence of the Australian Governor in the early part of this century. After the governor moved out, the courtyard was opened for public sightseeing, so it was transformed into a park.

Erlonghou Park (also known as Hedong garden and bingtou garden) (Portuguese: Jardim Da flora)

The former erlonghou palace was the official residence of the Australian Governor in the early 20th century.

Before 1930, erlonghou Park was called "bingtou garden". "Bingtou" is the present governor of Macao and the highest head of Portuguese autonomous institutions in Macao at that time. On August 13, 1930, the ammunition depot behind the official residence exploded due to the extremely hot weather, which affected and destroyed the bingtou garden.

After the governor moved out, the courtyard was opened for public sightseeing, so it was transformed into a park.

Internal layout

As bingtou lived in erlonghou, it was actually the governor's residence at that time. The first half of the official residence is a garden with a shady lotus pond and quiet scenery. At the back is the villa of bingtou, which is of Portuguese architectural style. After that, the Australian and Portuguese authorities renovated the garden. Due to the small area of the garden, sir Hedong donated a piece of land and hillside adjacent to the garden to the Australian and Portuguese authorities. Therefore, erlonghou park is also known as "Hedong garden". Erlonghou park is a favorite place for Macao residents to rest and visit.

Environmental characteristics

Erlonghou park is located at the West foot of Songshan Mountain, and it has European characteristics. The site on the left side of the entrance to erlonghou Park was originally the property of Mr. Ho Tung Shen Jue in Hong Kong. It was built with a wall called Ho Tung Shan. When the park was expanded, Ho Tung donated the adjoining mountains, so it was also called Ho Tung garden.

Many kinds of flowers and trees are planted in the park, and pools are built, seats are set, and birds are raised. In the garden, the green trees and red flowers match each other, the stone level leads to the secluded Pine Mountain, the mountain spring current, the pond duckweed makes the wave, the birds and animals swim in the cage. There is a sightseeing cable car at the entrance of the park to the top of Songshan mountain. Tourists can have a panoramic view in the cable car and enjoy the scenery of the east looking Yangshan Area.

Erlonghou and xiaolonghou are now in erlonghou park. Erlonghou is famous for its sweet spring water, which is very popular with local residents. Many teahouses and restaurants even use erlonghou spring water to make tea for tea drinkers.

Cable car fare

There is a sightseeing cable car at the entrance of the park to the top of Songshan mountain. Tourists can have a panoramic view in the cable car and enjoy the scenery of the east looking Yangshan Area. Adult one-way Macau 3 yuan, two-way 5 yuan. Students, people aged 2 to 18 and over 65 are required to pay mop 2 for one way and mop 3 for two-way.

Opening Hours

From 8am to 6pm, it will be closed on Mondays (or the next day in case of public holidays). Public holidays are open as usual.
