Yokohama Specie Bank Building
Yokohama Zhengjin bank building (Qingdao) is a branch building of Yokohama special bank (LTD), a Japanese semi official foreign exchange bank, in Qingdao, China.
Yokohama Zhengjin bank building (Hankou) is located at the Nanjing intersection of Yanjiang Avenue in Hankou. It is now used by Hubei International Trust and investment company and is a national key cultural relic protection unit.
The Qingdao Branch of the bank was established in 1913 and is located in the core of the concentration area of overseas Japanese in Qingdao (now No. 1 Guantao Road, Shibei District). The branch building was completed on July 31, 1919. It is a red top two-story building covering an area of 7 mu. With a construction area of 1787 square meters, it is designed by Japanese architect Nagano yupingye. The facade has 8 square granite pilasters and convex eaves pyramid shaped mountain flowers. In 1945, Yokohama Zhengjin bank was accepted by Bank of China Qingdao Branch. The building is listed as an excellent historical building in Shandong Province.
Hankou branch is located at the Nanjing intersection of Yanjiang Avenue in Hankou. It is now used by Hubei International Trust and investment company and is a national key cultural relic protection unit. This is a neoclassical building. In 1894, Yokohama Zhengjin bank opened a Hankou branch in jiangtan, Hankou British concession. It was completed and opened in 1897. In 1921, it was demolished and rebuilt into a four story reinforced concrete structure building, which was designed by Jingming foreign company.
