Historical evolution
On May 12, 1987, Jilin Provincial Museum of nature was founded by the Ministry of nature of Jilin Provincial Museum.
On January 1, 2001, Jilin provincial government assigned the site of Jilin Provincial Natural Museum to Northeast Normal University to retain the brand of Jilin Provincial Natural Museum and the status of independent enterprise legal person.
On May 9, 2001, Northeast Normal University established the Natural Museum of Northeast Normal University.
On May 1, 2007, the new Jilin Provincial Natural History Museum was officially opened to the public.

Jilin Provincial Museum of nature covers an area of 54000 square meters, with a building area of 14700 square meters, an exhibition hall area of 6000 square meters, and a warehouse area of 3000 square meters. The exhibition area of "spirit of birds" and "interest of animals": by creating a realistic natural environment, the rare specimens of birds and animals are lifelike, and then the unique vigorous posture and graceful posture of birds and animals are reflected. Through explanation and multimedia inquiry, the audience can understand the specimen and the story behind it.
"Fossil world" exhibition area: divided into "fossil", "dinosaur age", "northeast quaternary extinct animals", "corner of exploration" four display units. The exhibition is in the form of precious fossils, dynamic dinosaur restoration, and shocking 3D movies, so that the audience can be familiar with the fossils, understand the course of life, and acquire knowledge in pleasure.
