Wowachi is the hometown of Tianma. It is located in the area of huangdaba reservoir, 4km southeast of Nanhu Township, Dunhuang city. It is composed of many springs, with rippling blue waves and unique color.

It is also called shouchanghai. According to Dunhuang manuscripts, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty had a prisoner named profiteering commander who was stationed in Dunhuang. When he was there, he designed to capture a wild horse and presented it to Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty saw that his horse was big and had extraordinary bones. He thought it was a BMW given to him by his most respected God Taiyi. He named it Taiyi Tianma and wrote a song of Taiyi. From then on, wowa pool became famous with Tianma.

When Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty saw this heavenly horse, he praised it very much. He thought it was auspicious and was given to him by his most revered "Taiyi God". So he named it "Taiyi heavenly horse" and wrote "Tianma song" to celebrate.
